Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

Our Invasion of Iraq eliminated the force structure Saddam imposed to keep the diverse factions in Iraq from battling each other. That force structure, although brutal, kept the sectarian factions from doing what we see every day in Iraq. From the beginning, Iraq was an artificial country composed of factions that hated each other and were kept in line by FORCE.

We have exchanged the force Saddam imposed for a vacuum that has allowed these factions to emerge and assert their individual power structures. The loyalty of the Iraqi people has NEVER been to the country but to the faction that each person belonged to in Iraq. Colin Powell was prophetic when he said, break it and it is yours. Bush has done just that and is unable to make it hole again. His idea of a Democracy will not work because there is no desire for real unity among the people of Iraq. Their loyalty is to being a Kurd, Sunni and Shiite NOT an Iraqi.

History will not look favorably on what we have done in Iraq and the real problem is how to limit the consequences of our invasion from spilling into the other countries in the region.

The only thing I can understand from you is that you would be willing to agree with Col just to spite everyone else here.

if i really wanted to spite everyone else here, i'd be encouraging you to write a whole lot more than you do already.

I have noticed you like to have opposite views on almost everything here from those of right leanings and I wonder if you do it for that simple reason or are you really speaking your mind.

right leanings doesn't make leaners right (in the sense of correct or appropriate). furthermore, a lot of what you--and you're hardly alone in this--may consider conservative positions are anything but.

you're welcome to spend all the time you wish visiting my archived articles to determine whether i'm puttin myself at risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome or damaging my circulatory system in order to proclaim shit i don't really believe.

here's a good place to start. Link

"in the not too distant future, i doubt even the most focused 'strategic thinker' Linkis gonna be able to provide a suitable excuse for refusing to develop a true coalition like the one assembled for the first gulf war."

The coalition in the Gulf War was dependent on their trade partner Hussein staying in power. With billions in pending deals with our "allies", I don't think anyone can really fault Bush for not being able to talk them into tossing aside all that cash.

What's not being figured in by Bush critics, and I think WILL be figured in later, is the heinous corruption that was going on in the UN, and the greed involved in our lack of a coalition. When historians are less apt to worry about their political image, I think they'll begin to admit that the UN and opponents of this war were doing so simply out of greed.

They were feeding a tyrant, starving a nation, and aligning themselves to aid in him regaining power and eventually military might. It is easy to blind ourselves of those facts now, but I don't think history will be so single-mindedly anti-Bush.

Odd that a fervent rightist, believing his view is RIGHT, should question KB's motives to express himself as having no profound views of his own and expresses himself for the hell of it and out of spite. What a gas!

having finally reached my majority, this was the first election in which i was able to vote. i had no intention of supporting a criminal of either affiliation so nixon was out of the question. mcgovern--like goldwater--was an honest and fair man and i would have been able to vote for him if it hadn't occurred to me to opt for a write-in. barry goldwater. Ouch, the fallacy of youth!

voters too often get what they deserve. and what they've been getting a lot of in my lifetime is candidates willing to do anything or anyone to win. this time around, anything consisted mostly of pandering to theocrats and fronting off a group of veterans. Great line. Thanks for the link.
