Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

I hope the conference today will begin a process that will lead to a settlement of the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict. However one can not fail to look back at the past 7 years of inaction by Bush.

Bush is trying to salvage something that he hopes future generations will look upon as a positive accomplishment of his 8 years in office. To date the only issue that is a positive accomplishment is the agreement with North Korea to end their nuclear program.

This will be the last chance Bush will have to get a process started that could lead to a settlement during his term. How much better of a chance would he have had if he had tackled this issue 7 years ago?

You know Col, it's really hard to take anything you say serious when you can't even write an article without contradicting yourself.

7 years of inaction but you claim Bush's only accomplishment is North Korea ending their nuclear program. Am I the only one who sees this?

I agree it is not perfect. However I heard the Israeli PM say Everything was on the table. That is NEW.

Holly crap, Col is actually being positive about a Bush venture?

I hope this will prove to be a success and will be happy to give Bush credit if this effort ends up with Israel and its enemies coming to an agreement!

I can say with complete confidence that you will not give Bush any credit. A conflict such as the one between Israel and Palestine that has been raging for nearly a century will not just be forgotten and both Palestinians and Israelis will simply learn to co-exist over night and become best friends. Conflicts will continue to happen, not all Palestinians and/or Israelis will settle for less than what they have always wanted considering all the death and destruction already caused by both sides.

This meeting could yield a step in the right direction for both countries but knowing how your mentality works Col, you will settle for nothing less than perfection when it comes to Bush being the one "in charge", as you like to put it. It could take years and maybe even decades before peace could really settle in if these 2 countries actually reached an agreement; you, however, will blame every second of every year or decade on Bush for not doing enough to avoid it as if it was his fault these people have been fighting for so many decades.

Your BS about giving Bush any credit what so ever has no value or any legs to stand on. You would give Bush credit if he ended world hunger and eliminated oil from the USA 100% cause you will spend the rest of your life pointing out how long it took him to accomplish it.

It's amazing and scary how much you and the Borg from Star Trek have in common.

It is not hard to give Bush credit given the fact that most of what he has done has failed to resolve the many issues that face our country. The issue is that if he had acted 7 years ago there would be a lot better chance of success!

The Borg is a GREAT description of Bush-- DO IT HIS WAY DO NOT THINK[/B]-- that is what anyone that follows him must do! Many on this Blog site fit that mold!

then what would you call it when called iran and told them the missiles would be flying over their country and then called the taliban and told them the same thing.

which one of those two would not have called bin laden and told to get out now.

The problem is that when one country sends a missile over another with NO notice, it could be thought to be an attack on their country. That is why the Predator that is in the theater can be directed to attack a target without that problem. WHY did Bush not allow the use if this system UNTIL AFTER 9/11?

I see you do not claim that the VAST MAJORITY would agree with you that tax cuts to the wealthy are MORE important then insuring the things I listed are continued. I would be happy to go to the Public or the Congress with the choice of either funding Social Security and Medicare with a tax increase on the wealthy or not paying the benefits under these two programs to the retired. I am ready to say either increase taxes on the top 10% or end help for Students to go to College. Let’s see if the majority would rather cut our military force or ask the wealthy to pay a little more in taxes. Those are some of the choices. We can not continue to spend more then we tax and the day is coming when the HARD choices will have to be made.

It's so telling how gene loves to spend everyone elses money but his.

Raising taxes is not the solution, cutting spending and all social programs, along with many other useless things. Taxing one group of people will not solve the problem.

That is not correct. Clinton warned Bush in December 2000 that Ben Laden was a problem. The CIA warned Bush for 6 months before 9/11 that bin Laden was planning to attack the U.S. Tenet tried to get Bush to allow the use of the Predator and Bush DID NOTHING but sit on his ass!

No Col, the issue is that this will not be resolved any time soon. You seem to believe that a group of people who have been waging this war for nearly a century, raise their children to hate the Jews and will stop at nothing short of nuclear weapons, are somehow gonna have a change of heart and forget of past conflicts and become good buddies with Israel. You are definitely is a state of denial and that state is on another planet.

Bush is the last person in this world we should expect to accomplish any kind of peace between these 2 cultures without killing no less than 50% of the population of both countries.

I don't even know why we are involved in the conflict (apart from being allies with Israel) when the rest of the world and many American citizens believe we should not stick our noses in other peoples businesses anyways. Sounds like hypocrisy is once again the word of the day around here.
