Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

Today 12% of all U.S. Jobs are in manufacturing. That is down from 25 % at the start of our so called Free Trade policy. Those that want MORE tax cuts for business tell us that is why manufacturing and Tec Jobs are going out of the country. The real reason is not taxes but labor rates. If tax cuts were the answer we would not be facing the recession we are facing today. We simply can not afford to reduce the federal revenue given the deficit. Tax cuts to business MUST result in New living wage jobs in this country not simply to enhance the companies’ bottom line or enable them to expand foreign operations.

Americans must commit to buy American made goods for a far larger percent of their purchases. They may have to pay a little more but if companies knew that there was a market for American made goods production would return to the U.S. We need BOTH incentives and penalties to help create and keep manufacturing and high Tec Jobs in the U.S. We need better training programs for American workers and incentives for companies who create new jobs in America. We need to control illegal immigration. A great industry to start new U.S. Jobs is to start a Marshall plan for the American Energy needs.

The current Trade and tax policy that encourage and reward companies who move production to other countries is not the answer. We need a president that inspires us to buy American and provide incentives for companies to expand production in the U.S. The path we are on is the road to DISASTER!!!

The real problem is an unrealistic understanding of the global economy we are in and will remain in. We cannot isolate ourselves to prosperity, no matter how many protectionist laws people like Gene can think up. This "road to disaster" was paved by people like Gene with incremental nicks in productivity (taxes, regulation) that have finally accumulated sufficient weight to drag us down. Business needs liberation, not a tighter straight jacket. No amount of "inspiration" will build a single factory or raise the wages of a single worker. Our government has rendered American-made goods non-competitive in the global market, and people like Gene want the government to cure what it's killed with more of the same medicine.

"Destroy the U.S."

What overdramatic BS.

OK. Let's all agree to pay more for American-made goods rather than the less expensive but same quality foreign-made goods on the shelf next to them. You go first.
