Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

Bush vetoed the S-CHIP health Care bill for low and middle income children because it included children whose families had annual incomes above twice the federal poverty level ($40,000). Bush said these families should pay for their own health insurance.

Great- Congress should END Federal health coverage for Bush, Cheney, Congress, the Supreme Court Justices etc. All these senior Federal officials earn more then $40,000 per year and today receive that EVIL socialized medicine paid by the American taxpayers.

Bush can not have it BOTH WAYS. Let him and Draft Dogger Dick buy their own PRIVATE health insurance!

What are you talking about?

Bush said he was opposed to Socialized Medicine and did not support the S-CHIP because it gave taxpayer paid health insurance to people who can afford to buy their own PRIVATE coverage. Then WHY should he and others in our government get taxpayer paid socialized health care?

I love how you fail to mention the reduction of the US Citizen barrier to people who only hold a SS card.

It was 3X the poverty level. 3 times not 2.

this is a job perk. like any other job where the company pays for the health insurance.

There were lots of reasons to veto that bill - he did the right thing. And nobody, not Congress, not members of the Executive branch, not SC judges, receives socialized medicine, something you know perfectly well but choose to lie about.

.
The principal reason Bush gave for the veto was that he thought people making more then about $40,000 can afford their own health insurance and the taxpayers should not be paying for that coverage. The S-CHIP paid up to $80,000 for a family income. Bush had an income of about $800,000 last year and Cheney about $1.7 Million. They can afford their own coverage. Let’s cut some spending by eliminating the cost for Bush, Cheney, and Congress etc.

WHY should taxpayers be paying JOB PERKS when Bush gets $400,000, plus a mansion, transportation, postage, expense account etc? Given his job performance he should be a DOLLAR a YEAR MAN! If Bush and Cheney deserve FREE health care then so do the children of families that make up to $80,000 per year!

I said no it is 3X

" Title I
Section 110 -
Places a limitation on the matching rate for states that propose to cover children with effective family income exceeding 300% of the federal poverty line. "

WWW Link

Your poverty level of 2X equaling $40K is for a family of 4.

Under the proposed (see link PLEASE) a family of 4 would only need to be under $61,950.

Math: 2007 HHS Poverty Guide for the 48 Contiguous states for a family of 4 is $20,650.
20,650*3=$61,950

Did you purposely misrepresent the facts?

Is the income of Bush and Cheney above $61,000?
on Oct 05, 2007
It appears you are correct about the income level. However my point is still correct. Bush at $800,000 and Cheney at $1.7 Million and the salary of Congress are all WAY above $61,000.

In addition Bush wants to continue granting farm subsidies with taxpayer money to farmers with annual incomes up to $2.5 Million per year. When the Democrats proposed to reduce that to $ 500,000 per year, which is still too high, Bush threatened to VETO that bill. No help for low and middle income families but lets keep the money going to the wealthy. That is what Bush and the GOP members of Congress think is the right thing to do!

I made an error. However the issue is if Bush who makes 13 times the $60,000 can receive taxpayer paid health care why should that not be OK for middle Income families! Using the Bush arguments he and Cheney as well as all members of congress should not be receiving taxpayer paid health care!

lets not forget col who make more than 40,000 a year. maybe they should stop using the va system.

I never used the VA System. I am on Medicare which I paid for when I was employed. Nice Try. I am not the one that objects to families making up to $80,000 with help to insure the children have health care. That is Bush. It is ok for him making $800,000 to have government paid health care but not children of families with incomes of $60-80,000.
