Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

President Bush released a three page unclassified version of the NIE that the NYT and AP released over the weekend. The unclassified version of the report does say that the Iraq War is the “cause celebre” for Islamic Extremists, breeding deep resentment of the United States in the Muslim world. This is also in line with the report by the CIA that the number of al Quaeda has increase world wide from 20,000 before 9/11 to 50,000 today.

In addition, the President of Pakistan was interviewed within the hour on CNN and flatly stated he disagrees with Bush about the War in Iraq and said our invasion has made terrorism worse and the world LESS SAFE!.

Now Bush and Cheney are clearly at odds with both our intelligence agencies and the President of Pakistan as to how the Iraq war has impacted terrorism!

What, pray tell Gene, should we do or have done to DECREASE the number of Islamists who hate us? Best I recall, not invading Afghanistan or Iraq after the first WTC bombing and the Cole incident didn't do much to decrease that number.

What is the official certified degree of hatred of the US these days, anyway, not to mention the official unit of measure? Does the UN have an agency responsible for measuring and reporting on that? Wouldn't surprise me.

Good job Col, continue to point to the same declasified pages that just a few replies above you said:

If we have disrupted their leadership, why are the level and change in their tactics taking place?

in other words you felt it was not saying the truth. Hypocrit.

You forgot his answer to the question did he disagree with President Bush on how our invasion impacted terrorism. He said in plain simple English that he DID NOT AGREE WITH BUSH.

The NIE clearly says " The Iraq War has become the cause celebre, breeding a deep resentment of US involvement in the Muslim world and cultivating supporters for global jihadist movement".

Bush and Cheney are clearly on the opposite side of both our intelligence agencies and the President of Pakistan as to how the Iraq war has impacted terrorism both in Iraq and around the world! We have sacrificed American lives, American injuries and ½ Trillion tax dollars to make terrorism worse. Way to go George!

Who cares whether he agrees with Bush or not (besides you). I was simply calling you on a false statement. Most of us real Americans couldn't care less what the President of a third world nation thinks.

As far as claims that terrorism is worse, how many bombs do you hear going off in your neighborhood right now? The fact is that we have had no attacks and the jihadists are too busy getting themselves killed in Iraq to attack us here.

The NIE also stated that to defeat the jihadists in Iraq would seriously defeat their movement. A part of the report you seem determined to ignore as it defeats your sick anti-American agenda.

You can stay in a state of constant war with them or you can bend over to appease them, THe facts will remain unchanged.
Any non-Muslim country should be burnt down, any non islamic religion should not be tolerated.

AS for Prez Musharraf, he's an ASS.

Bush told us our invasion of Iraq was to allow for the Iraqi people to select their own government and create STABILITY, first Iraq and then in OTHER Moslem countries

Okay....let me try this again; to my mind, at least, the war against Iraq isn't, and wasn't intended, REALLY, as a war against IRAQ.
It was to establish a safe haven for long-term operations in the Middle East. Why? Because this war is against Radical and Fundamentalist Islam for the defense of Western Civilization.
Could Bush say that in 2003? Of course not. Could he say it now? Could he issue a general call to arms, like the Pope during the Crusades? Of course not. That doesn't make it any less true, however.
When are you going to realize that the war has been successful insofar as keeping the enemy OUT THERE? Away from US soil? Al-Qaeda has had to change its tactics; they're supposedly going to start attacking other nations now.
Why might that be? Because we've scrambled them too much over here, perhaps? Because we're grinding them down, perhaps? Because all their efforts and hot air have come to nothing.
Why? Maybe it's because we did something they didn't expect; we went on the offensive and started rooting them out when they expected us to run and hide like the weak-kneed, lazy, thin-skinned and decadent people they thought we were.
Sure, they change tactics and leadership as the situation requires, just like any well-organized armed force or government. That's war.

You know, Roosevelt used baby steps, under the guise of diplomatic and material aid to the British and Russians, to get us deeper and deeper into the war before it was too late.
The result was Pearl Harbor, which thankfully came before Britain fell.
For his efforts, people castigated Roosevelt, too, just like Bush today. If he hadn't done what he did, though, we'd have been facing the Nazis, Japanese and Italians all by ourselves, so it would appear to have been the best move. Today, FDR is seen as one of our greatest leaders.
Who knows? Maybe in the future, people will look back on your constant, unending and never ceasing efforts here and chuckle in derision.
That is, of course, if you and your kind haven't completely undermined our efforts and morale and caused us all to fall to the Islamics.

My statement was in no way FALSE.

First let’s look at the Intel prior to our invasion. The excuse when anyone questions the fact the ONLY WMD that has been found in Iraq was some old Artillery shells fill with gas is that the Intel was WRONG. That is a lie. The intelligence that was available to Bush PRIOR to his invasion said that there was very little chance that Saddam had an active nuclear program or an active Bio program in late 2002. The intelligence did say that there was a HIGH probability that Saddam had old artillery shells filled with gas that were left over from the first Gulf war. What Bush did is kept that portion of the Intel he had secret that did not support his public argument that Saddam had WMD and was so much of a danger to the United States that we could not wait to invade Iraq. Recall that the U N Inspectors had returned to Iraq and had we just allowed them to complete their inspections we would have confirmed the fact that the ONLY WMD that remained under Saddam's control were the old artillery shells, which by the way were found since Saddam Fell in 2003.

Bush and Cheney were aware of the intelligence including the facts that Saddam did not have nuclear or Bio weapons but we were told that to wait to remove Saddam would risk mushroom clouds over our cities. HOW COULD SADDAM use something Bush and Cheney knew he did not have?

This is the very same way Bush has handled the latest NIE Report that clearly refutes his statements that the Iraq War has made us and the world safer. If the NYT and AP had not published that report, Bush would have kept the NIE conclusion from the American People in his effort to support the Iraq War as making us safer when just the opposite is true.

We have a President that at times tells us half truths (the half that supports what he wants to do). A president that ignores the very intelligence that is designed to provide the basis for our policy development. We have a President that attempts to use secrecy to hide anything that does not agree with what he wants to do. We have a President that claims when anyone, including Congress, questions his decisions it is some how disloyal.

We have the WORST and MOST DANGEROUS President in our history! We have a Congress that has failed to meet its constitutional requirement to be a co-equal branch of our government. With very few exceptions, the GOP controlled Congress is a Rubber Stamp the Bush policies.

That NEEDS TO END by returning control of Congress to the Democrats at the November election!!!!!!!

I just LOVE it when they "cherry pick" ONE GD line from a 4 page document, ignoring all the rest!

I think Muslims need to worry more about American hate towards them than vice versa.

No you hate it when your idiot President is proven WRONG! Anyone that voted for Bush should be ashamed of themselves!
on Sep 29, 2006
So do you agree with Bush that Iraq is the central front in the war on terrorism today or with the Democrats who say it is not?
on Sep 29, 2006
I bet you really think that the Pope's statement is what inspired Islamist Extremists to murder a nun too, right gene?
on Sep 29, 2006
We have allowed Iraq to become a major terrorist center and may not be able to fix the problem. There are two issues both of which we enabled to happen. We uncorked the sectarian violence between the factions that, in the past, were held in check by force. We also have opened the door for foreign terrorists to operate.

Thus when we do leave Iraq we may wind up with two major security issues that the Bush invasion created! I do not believe the Iraqi government will be able to keep this country together and whenever we leave the country will first have an all out civil war that will decide the basic structure of the country. At the same time, groups like al Qaeda will be allowed to operate in some sections of the country. The other danger is that during this internal conflict in Iraq we must try and prevent that from spilling into other countries in the area.

If this happens, people will finally understand how major of an error Bush made in March 2003!

My statement was in no way FALSE.

Yes it was.

You said
the President of Pakistan was interviewed within the hour on CNN and flatly stated he disagrees with Bush about the War in Iraq and said our invasion has made terrorism worse and the world LESS SAFE!.

When in fact he actually said

the Iraq War has made the world “LESS SAFE”.

So in fact what you originally claimed that he said was in fact false. No wonder you're a laughing stock.

MasonM

You are nuts.

He said the world is less safe because of the Iraq war. Bush said we are safer because of the Iraq war. He also said he did not agree with Bush that the Iraq war made us safer. All you do is twist words. The essence of what I said is exactly what the President of Pakistan said.

The NIE said that the Iraq war has become the Cause Celebre for jihadists, breeding a deep resentment for US involvement in the Muslim world CULTIVATING SUPPORTERS FOR GLOBAL JIHADIST MOVEMENT.
