Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
Published on March 28, 2007 By COL Gene In Politics

Last night John McCain showed WHY he should NOT be the GOP candidate for President in 2008. In a CNN interview Sen. McCain made some outrageous statements that show he, like Bush and Cheney, refuse to accept the reality of Iraq and look at that conflict as they want it to be not as it is!!

McCain said the surge had made it possible for Americans to walk safely in some sections of Baghdad outside the Green Zone. He also claimed that Gen. Petraeus regularly went into Baghdad in an “Unarmored Vehicle”

At the completion of the interview CNN asked their reporter Michael Ware about the claims made by McCain. He flatly stated that Sen. McCain was in a state of denial. Mr. Ware also said it was NOT correct that Gen Petraeus went on the streets of Baghdad as McCain claimed.

Today CNN had a second interview with Sen. McCain to confront him about the statements he made about the security situation in Iraq. When McCain was asked about the statements made by Michael Ware he was unable to resound. Then the CNN reporter informed McCain that CNN had contacted Gen. Petraeus’s office and they said ,” The general NEVER leaves the Green Zone without an armed escort." That escort includes armored vehicles, helicopter cover, armed columns and snipers. McCain was again unable to respond.

These two interviews by CNN clearly show that Sen. McCain refuses to accept the reality of the situation in Iraq just like Bush. We do not need another Commander-in-Chief that lives in a DREAM WORLD!"

Just presenting the facts. Look at the interviews yourself! McCain was also asked about his bout with Cancer. Then the CNN reporter asked McCain WHY Bush and the GOP controlled Congress CUT funding for Cancer Research in the last two budgets? McCain was DUMB STRUCK. He did not know what to say. He finally said that money for cancer research has increased during the past 10-15 years. The Reporter repeated the statement that that did not change the fact that in the last two budgets passed by the GOP and signed by Bush funding for cancer research had been cut. McCain finally said he did not know that had taken place! I NEVER saw McCain look so inept and ill informed. I bet his campaign staff are having FITS over those two interviews which are being rerun on CNN!!!

That's because what was being asked was an outright ill-informed LIE!
From GW's mouth at the National Institutes of Health Bethesda, Maryland :

First, I'm pleased that we're funding cancer research. We're up about 25 percent or 26 percent since 2001; it's a commitment that I made when I first came to Washington, it's a commitment we're keeping. And the reason why it makes sense to spend taxpayers' money on cancer research is that we can make some good progress, and have. Interestingly enough, this is the second consecutive year there was a drop in the number of cancer deaths in the United States. And the drop this year was the steepest ever recorded. And the reason I bring that statistic up is that progress is being made. In other words, there are tangible results as a result of the research that takes place around the country, and a lot of it focused here at the NIH.

Or this from 2002

President's Budget Increases Funding for Cancer Research by $629 Million
President Bush Wednesday said, "My 2003 budget would increase funding for cancer research by $629 million, for a total.....

Or maybe you want to argue facts direct from GAO?

The reductions were for 2006 and 2007 in cancer research. There was also a reduction in 2007 for the CDC. Bush also vetoed stem cell research So CHEW ON THAT YOU IDIOT!

You are correct it was not 2006.

The cuts were in the 2007 and the proposed 2008 budget not in the 2006 Budget. See my Blog about the 2007 Bush Budget:

Bush 2007 Budget is Unbelievable
Our President has lost his mind!

Bush is getting ready to send his 2007 budget proposal to Congress. While Bush is pushing to make his tax cuts for his wealthy supporter's permanent, look at some of the proposed CUTS he has included in his 2007 Budget:

Cuts from Education
Cuts from the Dept of Energy
Cuts from the National Institute of Health
Cuts from Centers for Disease Control
Cuts for Medicare Reimbursement
Cuts for food aid to CHILDREN under 6 and the ELDERLY
Cuts for the NATIONAL GUARD and ARMY RESERVE

Given his statements about the need for education, the potential problems with health and a possible pandemic, the plight of the poor he identified in his New Orleans Speech and the situation with our military being under sized, these budget cuts are as wrong as they could be. Rather then increase the Federal revenues to help balance the budget, Bush is proposing cuts in ESSENTIAL elements of the government. The cuts in the National Guard and Reserve have raised a firestorm with the nations Governors as well as the Congress. 75 Senators sent a letter to Bush Thursday saying HELL NO. I doubt that most of these ridicules cuts will be approved, especially in an election year. The real question is HOW COULD WE HAVE ELECTED A PRESIDENT THAT IS SO OUT OF TOUCH WITH WHAT IS NEEDED IN AMERICA?

There were similar cuts contained in the Bush 2008 Budget! I had the wrong year but cuts that Bush and the GOP made in 2008 and proposed for 2008 were correct as stated! Now let’s see you refute that!

BAGHDAD - Shiite militants and police enraged by deadly truck bombings went on a shooting rampage against Sunnis in a northwestern Iraqi city Wednesday, killing as many as 70 men execution-style and prompting fears that sectarian violence was spreading outside the capital.

The killings occurred in the mixed Shiite-Sunni city Tal Afar, which had been an insurgent stronghold until an offensive by U.S. and Iraqi troops in September 2005, when militants fled into the countryside without a fight. Last March, President Bush cited the operation as an example that gave him "confidence in our strategy."

Cuts from Education.
BS! from 2008 budget
• Provides a $1.7 billion increase for schools in low-income communities, including a $1.2 billion
increase for the core Title I program and $500 million for schools in need of improvement;
• Requests $300 million to enable low-income students in low-performing schools to transfer
to a public or private school of their choice or receive intensive supplemental services;
• Increases the Pell Grant maximum award from $4,050 to $5,400 over five years, to help over
5.4 million low-income students access quality higher education each year;

Cuts from the Dept of Energy

Yet more BS

The 2008 Budget proposes $4.4 billion, a seven-percent increase over the 2007 Budget, for the
contribution of the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Science to the second year of the
American Competitiveness Initiative (ACI).

Cuts from the National Institute of Health
