Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
LTG Blum , Commander of the National Guard, Told Congress Today!
Published on May 24, 2007 By COL Gene In Politics

That National Guard is in trouble. They do not have the resources, especially equipment, to handle multiple disasters. Most Guard Units have only 30% of the equipment and much of what they have needs replacement! In fact most state guard units would have to draw on guard units from other states just to deal with a single disaster. Gen Blum said the situation in the Guard is more dangerous than al Qaeda.

In addition for the first time 52% of employers said they would not hire Guard Members who had the possibility of being called to active duty. That is a very troubling problem and points to the long term impact of the over use of the National Guard in Iraq.

Recently the Governor of Kansas said that the response of her guard forces was impaired to deal with the recent tornadoes and had to obtain personnel and equipment from other states. The condition of the National Guard is troubling and the funding that Bush has included in his budget request does not come close to addressing the requirements of the National Guard! Another failure of the Commander-in-Chief! Bush should have completed his Guard Service when he was a Guard Member. He must also have forgotten the importance of the National Guard even though he was the Governor of Texas!

Causing the unjustified and unneeded death and injury of American Troops is a High Crime. It is the WORST thing any President can do!!!!!!!!!

As we have shown you countless times before, there is no proof of intentional lies.  Understand this.

If that is your justification for impeachment then we could impeach probably every modern-day President.

I'll link the whole article. It's from MSNBC not FOX. They were only equipped to 60% at the start of the war so all of the 40% numbers sound a bit more silly when the drop wasn't 60% it was 20%. Gov. Sebeluis knew her statements to be untrue when she made them even if she never made the supposed call to Brownback. The Guardsmen on the ground there had what they needed. WWW Link

I know you will ignore this comment and move past it because it contains truth.

The Guard was not at 100% equipment that is correct. However, now the levels are such that every State Commander, most Governors and the Head of the National Guard say they CAN NOT handle major disasters. The equipment has also been destroyed from the punishing use in Iraq and even when that equipment is returned it will be useless. Bush has not included money in his Budgets to replace this equipment! Thus the statements I quoted in this Blog are CORRECT. I said I did not think Guard members was a protected class. I was incorrect. Again the truth of what I posted is that employers are being harmed by the prolonged and multiple deployments. The reason we have had to call on the Guard is because we do not have a large enough Active force for the deployments. Bush in 2000 said the Army and Marines were TOO SMALL. Did he request an increase in the size of the Army and Marines over the past six years? HELL NO! If Bush had not lied about the danger from Saddam our military would not be in Iraq, we would not have suffered the deaths and Injuries. We would not have spent over 1/2 Trillion dollars and we would not have added to the terrorists that are willing to attacks us again. We also might have finished the job in Afghanistan where 9/11 was planned.

What a waste of time to argue with Col. He makes up laws as he sees fit and the criticizes Bush for doing the same. How come is it that Bush can not, according to you, make things up as he goes along yet you can claim he is a criminal just because you think he is?

Again you are not arguing with me but with the highest ranking officer in the National Guard

And you argue against the President of the United States, what's your point? We can't contradict someone just because they hold a high position and is against Bush but it's OK to contradict the President of the United States? You are the most hypocritical person on this planet. Thank God your only power in this country is on this blogg of yours. You would be a more dangerous person in the Gov't than any today or in the past. Murtha falls short of your dictatorship-like attitud. My way or the highway, that's your motto, isn't it?

And they say with age comes wisdom. You must be 5 years old then.

It's not 'I was wrong' but I'll take it. I agree it does hurt the employers. Since we can't change the past (unless you have some magic button), what should we do to fix Iraq and the National Guard.

Do we send more troops that we don't have?
Do we start up the draft?

I don't know. I don't even know if there is even a possible solution that would work.

Do you have a way to fix this? (not that your opinion or mine matters that much)

“And you argue against the President of the United States, what's your point?”

The President did not dispute the fact the National Guard has no equipment. He acknowledged the Army and Marines were too small and did nothing to correct a problem he identified. That is just stupid. Who acknowledges a problem and then does nothing to correct the problem and he is the person responsible—remember he is the Commander-in-Chief! WHAT A JOKE!!!

The simple fact remains, Bush has all but destroyed the National Guard, Army Reserve and the Active Army and Marines. Both the CoS of the Army and Commandant of the Marine Corps has testified before Congress that the Iraq War has brought the Army and Marines to the breaking point!

The Army has announced that West Point Officers are leaving the Army at TWICE the rate as before the Iraq War. West Point Graduates must serve 5 years active duty after graduation. Thus most of the departing Officers are Captains. The Army has been interviewing these departing Officers and they say multiple deployments and the Iraq War are the reasons given why most are choosing to leave the Army.

The Superintendent of West Point said this is a serious issue because it will deny the next generation of military leaders - The Colonels and Generals our country will need to lead the Army. Loss of our future military leaders is yet another consequence of the Bush Iraq War. The damage the Commander-in-Chief is doing to our ground forces is a serious and is a long term problem for our country! Anyone who believes his leadership is anything but a disaster has no understanding of our military! Today Draft Dogger Dick was sent to give the commencement address at West Point. I wonder what mental midget choose to send that IDIOT to address our future Military Leaders?

I will stack up my military service against Bush ANY DAY. As for Draft Dogger Dick he hid out during Vietnam and now stands before the graduates at West Point. That just shows how DUMB this administration is about just about everything. As to a Dictator-- YOU mean the "Decider” GWB!

You keep telling everyone how to think

I am not telling anyone how to think. I am pointing out the facts and posting the opinions of n the most well informed people in our country. You post BS that ignores what is taking place and claim the people with the experience and track record on the issues discussed do not know what they are talking about. The reality is it is YOU that does not what you are talking about on most subjects. As I have said when I sight facts or expert opinion and you attack me you are in fact attacking the facts or experts I am sighting. That makes you look like an idiot! This Blog is a good example-- Governors and Generals all say the National Guard is in trouble and you try and say the opposite!

It could be you are incapable of an intelligent thought!
