Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

That is the title of the editorial in my local paper today. The issue is the refusal of the GOP controlled Florida House, Senate and Governor to deal with exploding Real Estate taxes and insurance rates. As much as 80% of Floridians are is real trouble because of local property taxes and skyrocketing insurance rates. This is not a small problem that impacts the ability of Florida residents to buy a new car or move into a bigger home. These are problems that impact their ability to live. The problem is so significant that our Governor was forced to call the legislature into Special Session.

Bottom line is that Florida does not have a tax structure at the State level that produces the revenue needed. Their solution is to cut the state budget which makes the problem for the local government and the high real estate tax rates WORSE. The issue is that the spending at the local level is to build roads, schools, water, sewer, police and fire infrastructure. With the ever increasing number of both permanent residents and winter visitors the need for that spending can not be reduced and in fact must be increased. The GOP controlled legislature and the GOP Governor refuse to levy the taxes at the state level to provide relief to what is a crises for as much as 80% of Floridians. Only the wealthy can afford the higher local taxes and increased insurance rates. Thus the editorial question—WHO DO LEGISLATOR’S WORK FOR? Clearly they are not working for the 80%. They protect the huge wealth of the 20% who continue living in nothing less then their gated mansions with their huge yachts and top of the line cars.

We see the same thing at the national level in America. As much as 75% of Americans want the policies changed on things such as Iraq, Trade, Immigration, Social Security and Medicare solutions, Health Care and Education for our children. NOT ONE of these issues is being addresses the way the VAST MAJORITY want. Thus the same question of Washington - WHO DO CONGRESS and the PRESIDENT WORK FOR? It is clear not for about ¾ of the people in America. The Federal Government, like the government in Florida do the bidding of minority and protect the wealthy.

George W. Bush goes all over the world telling everyone how a democracy is the Right of every country. I would like him and any one of his supporters to explain then WHY are we not following what the vast majority WANT in the world’s largest and oldest democracy?

“Well you can't tell by going into a Target or Best Buy store in Florida.”

You can tell by falling home values and the growing unemployment rate. You can tell by the number of mortgage defaults and falling restraint sales. You can tell by the falling local tax revenue and the drastic cuts cities and counties are making. You can tell by the almost total lack of building permits!

“I have been ignoring your rants for a while now, but since I live in Florida as well I wanted to address this. First of all, where do you get this 80% of Floridians number?”

From the number of people having problems with their Insurance costs. In fact that number is closer to 100%. I know of NO major insurance company that has not had drastic increases in their premiums. Every non homesteaded house has watched their real estate taxes double and triple since 2002.

"Still using that inflated number, huh gene? Some things never change."

That is what the Census Bureau has said.

The 47 million without health insurance was released within the past several months. What the HELL are you talking about? The increase of 2.2 million was since last year.

She works hard for the money
So hard for it honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
So hard for it honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

Onetta there in the corner stand
And wonders where she is and
Its strange to her
Some people seem to have everything

Nine a.m. on the hour hand
And shes waiting for the bell
And shes looking real pretty
Just wait for her clientele

She works hard for the money
So hard for it honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
So hard for it honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

Twenty five years have
Come and gone
And she seen a lot of tears
Of the ones who come in
They really seem to need her there

Its a sacrifice working day to day
For little money just tips for pay
But its worth it all
Just to hear them say that they care

She works hard for the money
So hard for it honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

She already knows
Shes seen her bad times
She already knows
These are the good times

Shell never sell out
She never will
Not for a dollar bill
She works hard

She works hard for the money
So hard for it honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
So hard for it honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

So as usual, you don't have facts, just your biased opinion.

That is what the Census Bureau has said.

Have you read all the articles and posts that show how that number is false and inflated?  Probably not, because it doesn't fit your DNC talking points.

No.  Walk into any Best Buy or Target store in Florida and look at the huge TV's, computers, camera, cell phones, etc. people are buying.  Once again you try to make it like everyone (your 100% number) is starving in the streets of Florida, and it's total BS.  You are a liar.

One of the big selling points for Florida which attracts people and business is the lack of a state income tax.  You liberals are all the same, more taxes for a government that has shown time and time again they cannot handle money.

Funny, I live in Florida and my mother in-law is not starving. Neither is my brother, my sister in-law, my wifes cousins, aunts, uncles, my father in-law. Me. I guess we must be the part the does not make the 100% you claim is almost 100%.

I'm sorry Col but I just don't believe you get out of the house and go on cross country trips thru Florida (or your own home town for that matter) to talk as if you know what every Floridian is going thru. I just don't see those problems you speak of and if they are true these Floridians only have themselves to blame. No one told them to buy houses when they could not afford them, and Florida of all places. It's expensive here that the poor in Africa would see them as living like Donald Trump. For crying out loud I live 5 minutes away from Trump's famous Golf Club. Going to the supermarket is like going to the mall. Hell even Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, etc. live like kings here.

I'm curious Col, do you have something against people with a lot of money? Why this hatred towards people who have lots of money? Are you trying to say that this "20%" you speak of does not suffer this same insurance and property value loss problem? I mean, is it possible that money is somehow this magical shield that protects rich people from having to pay more for anything? Or is your mentality that because they have a lot of money it does not hurt them to pay more. Well let me tell you buddy that rich people can be froogle as well and would rather not have to pay more if they don't have to. I seriously doubt rich people do not look at expenses just because they have a lot of money to burn. Man, you got some weird concept about rich people. You need to stop watching so many of those drug lord movies.

BTW Col, not everyone who has money got it by being lazy and if they were smart enough to make themselves rich then they deserve to have these yachts, mansions and top of the line cars you seem to dislike so much. I bet my life that if you had the chance, you too would own a top of the line car, a yacht and a mansion.

I look forward to being able to acquire the finer things in life someday, you know, that thing we all like to call "The American Dream". I'll be damned if some crybaby, wanna be soldier, 2 faced "conservative", who can't see 2 minutes past his last fart, will spend the rest of his worthless, useless, brain dead life insulting me for working my butt off to achieve the American Dream.

Wow, I am such a good liar I even have myself fooled, and here I am believing I am living a decent life.

Shame on me for lying about my job with the second largest cement company in the world, shame on me for lying about getting a job in their accounting dept during a job shortage, shame on me for lying about not being poor, on the streets and starving.

The source is the State of Florida and the FL Insurance dept.

“Have you read all the articles and posts that show how that number is false and inflated? Probably not, because it doesn't fit your DNC talking points.”

All the GOP Presidential candidates agreed to the 47 Million Number last night on the debate. Since what has the GOP become the DNC? You as usual are full of BS!

That is why our Real Estate taxes are out of control. Most of the costs are being paid at the local level using Real Estate Taxes. The Real Estate Taxes and insurance costs will KILL the prosperity in Florida.
