Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

I have just read Curveball by Bob Drogin. For anyone who still believes we were in danger from Saddam and were justified to invade Iraq, please read this book.

This book tells how the environment created by George W. Bush allowed one low level Iraqi engineer to weave a fairy tale that as David Kay told Bush, “The United States has gone to war to chase a mirage”.

This was the person that was the ONLY source of the most important justification Powell used to invade Iraq in his February 5, 2003 speech before the U.N. It was all a lie and even though the CIA was presented with the evidence that the story of the Mobile Bio Labs was not true, the attitude of two top leaders of the CIA concluded the decision to invade Iraq was made and no intelligence would take us from that course.

When you read how David Kay, who was one of the strongest proponents of the WMD in Iraq before the invasion, uncovers one of the most fantastic snow jobs in History you will be astounded. Top people at the CIA pushed this lie because of the fact that Bush and Cheney sought to show the world that Saddam had WMD in 2002. The facts that David Kay uncovered were presented to Bush, Cheney, Rice and Card in April 2004 at the White House. The truth was that after 1991, Saddam did not attempt to produce any Chemical, Biological or Nuclear weapons. The entire WMD was a fraud!

These revelations caused the resignation of George Tenet and John McLaughlin the two top people at the CIA. It ended the career of Tyler Drumhiller, a top CIA operative, who tried to get the truth about this unbelievable fraud to be acknowledged by Tenet and McLaughlin before Bush invaded Iraq. When General Powell was informed of the fact that the so called PROOF he used at the UN was an elaborate series of lies, he was furious. This revelation prompted him to later say his UN Presentation was the low point in his career. However the top CIA chiefs believed Bush had made up his mind and no facts or intelligence would alter his march into Baghdad. They did not acknowledge the lies until April 2004 after David Kay and his team uncovered the series of lies that caused America to follow a MIRAGE to war.

The ONLY reason to place our troops at risk is to protect our country. Saddam was not committing genocide and that is NOT why Bush said we should invade Iraq. His reason is because we were in danger from Iraq which was a LIE and the Pentagon report that clearly said Saddam could not attack ANY country in 2002. The ease with which we defeated his army confirmed the accuracy of the Pentagon report. Saddam never recovered from the first Gulf War and did not create WMD after 1991!

ok so the only reason to place our troops at risk is to protect our country. then why were we in europe during world war 2, and what was that war before that oh yeah world war 1.

Ok, I confess my add has kicked in and I stopped reading replies around number 98. So, this point might be redundant. Congress authorized the use of force in Iraq, but under the misleading information that WMD's existed. That intel, which even Powell believed, has been soundly criticized even by George Tenet, Mr. Slam Dunk, himself.

We went to war on the wrong pretense. If Bush wanted to go into Iraq because SH was a bad guy, that's what he should have presented to the world. He didn't. He said Iraq was a threat due to WMDs. He was wrong -- at least about the WMDS.

Whether he was right to go in and risk lives on both sides to remove SH, and whether the planning was correct up to and after the invasion, are other issues.

Personally, I am against the war. But I also think it's wrong to set a timetable for withdrawl -- where in their country, up to our hips, and we either fix things or lose.

I'm rambling. What bothers me isn't we attacked Iraq. What bothers me is we were lied to about why we did. And I warn you, my attention span will only handle two responses before my eyes glass over and I drool.

Because Hitler was allied with Japan who attacked us and if Hitler had taken over Europe it would have been a danger to the U.S. Such is NOT the case in Iraq and anyone that would say so is a FOOL!

WWI is a case where because we are so tied to Europe our future and security was the issue.

There was also Intel that Hitler was working on the atom bomb as well as Rockets. That is something that could NOT be allowed!! That Intel was Correct!

what if Iraq had taken over the middle east they wouldn't have been a threat to us.

and you call me a fool.

when we entered world war 2 because of the jap attack on us. we focused on defeating Hitler not japan. japan was an after thought.

you have really got to study history better. by the time we knew about the nukes in Germany. Hitler had already canceled the program because he had become bored with it. so no the intel about germany building nukes was wrong because by the time we got the info they were no longer working on them.

we were isolationists before ww1 meaning we didn't have ties to anyone. the only reason we entered the war is because Germany sank a cruise liner that may or may not have been caring weapons.

Given the state of the Iraq Army, they had NO ability to take over ANYONE. Iran and Pakistan were far more of a danger then Iraq.

In 1941 we believed Hitler was attempting to develop the Atom Bomb and he was developing Rockets. The choice to defeat Hitler first was a political choice. However if Truman had not ended the war with the Atom Bomb, Japan would not have been any AFTER THOUGHT! Tell all the Marines that fought in the Pacific against Japan they were an after thought. You would come out of that conversation with your head in your hands!

The danger to the U.S. in WWII was REAL unlike Iraq that was incapable of attacking anyone in 2002.

here is the truth

Hitler never wanted to fight the USA because he knew that he would lose. he knew that if he had the whole world behind him he couldn't defeat the USA. that is why he signed that treaty with japan. japans job was to keep us out of the war. we did everything we could to provoke the Japanese to attack us and the did December 7 1941. and i proved it one time in the game allies and axis the computer version i played the united states and sat back and allowed the japs and Germans to take everything but the united states and england and they still couldn't defeat me.
