Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
Published on December 14, 2007 By COL Gene In Politics

For the second time Bush vetoed the bill that would provide millions of children health care. The compromise bill changed the two major objections Bush had to the first bill he vetoed. It lowered the income levels and eliminated illegals from coverage.

For anyone to say Bush is a Compassionate Conservative is a LIE! Bush is an evil man who acts in a way that shows he is a hypocrite when he claims to be a Christian! What a disgrace to our great country to have a leader the likes of George W. Bush. I hope his father is proud of little George! This is what comes from a child that is handed everything and produced almost nothing of value by his own efforts!

Not without cutting things that are essential. In addition it will take about $400 Billion to balance the budget without using the Surplus in Social Security and then another $300 to pay down the debt which will take 30 years. That is $700 Billion and there is NOTNING close in cuts to that amount.
There's the rub. What you consider "essentially" is considered by others to be optional.

What I consider essential is what the vast majority consider ESSENTIAL. I also believe the promises WE have made to the retired are far mote important then not increasing taxes on the wealthy. That is also something the vast majority agrees on. I bet that is what most voters will think in November 2008 and if future members of Congress were to cut things the people believe are important they will be GONE! There MAJORITY should set the basic policies not the Conservatives unless the majority of the country agrees which they do not! I hope we can fix the fiscal affairs starting in January 2009 however the Bush tax cuts will end in 2011 and the Democrats will not allow the cuts for the wealthy to continue.

Why do you keep claiming to know what the "majority" want?  You have absolutely nothing to back your statements up with.

The 2006 Election for one and the polls that clearly show there is little support for Bush and the GOP policies! Just wait for 2008!!!!!!

Oh, that's funny. If there were little support for the GOP, wouldn't the House, where 100% of the seats are up for grabs, be over 80% Democrat?

Some things you just can't spin, Col!

No the way house seats have been gerrymandered to keep the incumbent in power is the reason why MORE of the Congress has not changed. You will see more seats change from GOP to Democrat in 2008 to reflect the dissatisfaction with the current policies. If you believe the majority support what we are doing you just refuse to accept reality. I am disappointed the democrats did not take a hard stand and forced Bush and the GOP in Congress to shut down the government with their refusal to accept what the MAJORITY in Congress want to do with funding.

Just freeze spending growth, deficit problem solved. But that wouldn't achieve the confiscation & redistribution of wealth so it's unacceptable to Gene.

No, you said there is little support for the GOP. If there was as little support as you insist, it wouldn't matter how you gerrymandered it, the GOP would always lose.

That is an idea that refuse to recognize the realities of today. Here are the reasons that will not be possible:

Interest on the debt will increase as the debt increases.

The VA will require large increases to treat the Iraq war veterans.

We must replace hundreds of billions of equipment that was destroyed in Iraq.

We are expanding our military by almost 100,000 and that will increase the budget.

We need to increase the Border Patrol and Coast Guard to protect our country.

Most areas in the budget are comprised of salaries. Given the inflation, those salaries must increase and that will increase most budget departments.

As the Baby Boomers retire the Social Security and Medicare obligations will increase.

Those that claim the solution to our fiscal problems is to not increase spending live in a state of denial from the facts and nature of the budget itself. Ending the Iraq war and ending all pork would help but again even that will not offset those areas that I have listed above that will increase!
