Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
Which Is Better For The Tax Payers?
Published on January 10, 2008 By COL Gene In Politics

When Congress chooses to spend money they can either adopt a Tax and Spend policy or follow what Bush and the GOP did from 2001-2007 - Charge and Spend.

If we follow the Tax and Spend approach and spend $100 Billion the total cost to the tax payers is $100 Billion.

If we follow a Charge and Spend approach and spend $100 Billion and added it to the National Debt for 20 Years @ 5% interest the total cost to the Tax Payers is $200 Billion.

It is clear that of the two approaches the tax payers are far better off under the policy generally followed by the Democrats Tax and Spend then to follow the GOP approach of Charge and Spend!

I know some will say it is better NOT to spend the $100 Billion in the first place but as we know, BOTH parties will spend and thus the questions is HOW SHOULD WE PAY FOR THAT SPENDING? Tax and Spend is far better because it will cost the tax payers less!

The Democrats have not submitted a balanced budget in over 40 years. You're just being delusional again.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In 2000 we had a balanced Budget. The issue here is which policy is better for tax payers. A Policy that increases taxes if we increase spending which is Tax and Spend. The other option is Charge and Spend which adds the increased spending to the debt. I have clearly demonstrated the Charge and Spend will in the long run cost tax payers MORE then increasing current taxes to pay for any added spending!

That was a GOP congress.  As you may recall from your high school civics classes, congress handles budgeting, not the executive.

The best policy for tax payers is to reduce taxes.  Feel free to explain to people what precisely their tax dollars bring back to them.  The only tangible thing that tax payers get out of their federal tax dollars is a common defense. The rest is largely given away to non-tax payers.

Clinton was President and allowed the Budget to become law. You said we did not have a balanced budget in over 40 Years-- That is not true!!!!!!!!!

Let me refresh you memory. The President can VETO the budget Congress Passes . Unless they have a 2/3 majority in BOTH Houses the budget passed by Congress does not become law! Bush just did that with some spending bills. YOU HAVE A VERY SHORT MEMORY!

No, what I said is only a few comments above and was only a single line yet you failed to read it correctly:

The President has nothing to do with the budget other than not vetoing it.  Simply because Clinton didn't veto the balanced budget submitted by the GOP doesn't change the reality here.

LOL.  So your argument basically boils down to saying that because Clinton didn't actually interefere with the Republicans passing a balanced budget that he is somehow the cause.  Wow. That's a pretty stunning logic.

Let’s look at what the Republicans have done with the Budget since 1981. They have managed twice to create huge deficits by cutting taxes while increasing spending. They are responsible for adding $8 Trillion dollars of the debt! The fact remains that we had a balanced budget in 2000 and the very next year Bush and the GOP turned it is a disaster. If the GOP knew how to balance the budget in 2000 how did they forget so quickly in 2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006 and 2007?

Yea, he's just clueless.

You are clueless. The Supply Side Economics that Reagan and Bush 43 employed added $7 Trillion Dollars to the debt. Their economic policies are what Bush 41 called Voodoo Economics. Come to think of it Bush 41 also took the advice of people like Baker and Armitage to NOT Invade Iraq. Even Cheney in 1994 listed what would be the likely result of invading Iraq-- Our military would get bogged down in Iraq. We would be viewed as invaders and it would destabilize the area. Cheney forgot what he knew and the GOP in Congress forgot how to balance the budget after 2000. They all must be suffering from Alzheimer’s.

The Supply Side Economics that Reagan

I still say that Clinton should get down on his knees and thank Reagan for his "voodoo economics"

The mistake we made in Iraq is that we were trying to be nice during a war. During a war you cannot be nice. You have to take the war to the bad guy. Then you cannot let him/her/whatever have the property back after you take it from them. That is the mistake that we made in Iraq.

Anyone that believes Voodoo Economics is a good thing for this country should be admitted to Bellevue Mental Hospital. That policy is responsible for most of the National Debt. You can not cut taxes, increase spending and get anything but a deficit. Reagan and GWB have proven that!

We made two mistakes in Iraq.

First was to Invade Iraq.
Second was to not send the number of troops required.

Both those decisions were made by GWB!

And approved by Congress, BTW. Including many of your precious Democrats like Hilary Clinton.
