Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
Contact with the economics professor of George W. at Harvard
Published on September 30, 2004 By COL Gene In Politics
Yesterday I reveiced a note and letters from Professor Yoshi Tsurumi, the economics professor of George W. at Harvard. Professor Tsurumi provided me two pieces of information that helped flush out the charecter of George W.

He provided copies of letters he wrote (published in The Scarsdale Inquirer) and one written by Nicholas D. Kristof of the New York Times . Mr. Kristof vetted the claims of Professor Tsurumi, who has been the victim of vicious attacks by the White House operatives.

The professor recalls a conversation with George W. one fall day in 1973. George was wearing a Guard jacket and the professor asked him how he got into the Guard. As we all know George W. answered with the "help of daddy and his good friends". The new information for me was a second statement by George W. when Pofessor Tsurumi asked George W. how he finished his National Gurad commitment so quickly. The answer was " I got an early honorable discharge". The professor asked how he was able to do that and George W. answered," oh daddy had a good friend".

The second issue gets even more to what George W. is about. Professor Tsurumi vividly remembers George W. because of his outrageous statements such as,

"people were poor because they were lazy"

He opposed labor unions, Social Security, Environmental Protection, Medicare and Public Schools. To him the Federal Trade Commission and SEC were unnecessary hindrances to "free market competion".

The policies of FDR were socialism.

He showed his lack of compassion for the ordinary working Americans.

Does this sound like a "Compassionate Conservative" to ANYONE. Does this sound like the teachings of the Christian faith George W. professes?

The professor does provide some very intetesting insight into the man who would be reelected President.

These so called quotes are amazing. They really are factual and of note. I especially like how the Professor "vividly remembers" these words 31 years later! What an awsome memory. His vivid memory is kind of like John Kerry's "Seared" memory.

I will be sure to take the Professors qoutes into account when I vote in Nov. Thanks!!

The professor said, a teacher remembers their best and worst students. George W. was in the latter group. In addition, the opinions expressed by George W. were very radical and the fact his father was a very important person, when George W. was at Harverd, make it very undersandable how Professor Teurumi would recall him.

Given the policies President Bush has put into place, I believe he in fact did say just what Professor Tsurimi remenbers.

I'd be willing to bet money that the professor is a *liberal democrat*! And we ALL know how *they* feel about GW!

So What. If that is what George W. said it does not matter if he said it to a Republican, Democrat or independent. Every time information is released by anyone that is not favorable to George W., his supporters try and discredit them. I loved his answer to the question about what mistakes had he made. George W. answered, he wished he had that question in advance to think about it for some time. It would take days to list the mistakes and ineffective policies he has made.

Wow, you DID find something less relevant than Bush's guard service. I didn't think such a feat was possible. Kudos...

I think we have a pro-Kerry Sir Peter on our hands. He'll be getting handwritten notes from Kofi Annan and musing about old times jogging with FDR next... ...

No, I am not a big fan of Sen Kerry. But I do know the job Bush has done does not warrent a second term! What we need is a moderate Republican that is more interested in the long term welfare of the majority of Americans then the greed of the far right. I have been a Republican for over 40 years and was a member of the Republican committee in Pennsylvania in the mid 70's. Those were the days when Republicans believed in fiscal sanity. We called democrats "Tax and Spend" The Republicans today are "Charge and Spend" That is worse because somone must pay the interest and principal.

I'd have to agree that teachers remember the best and the worst. I only taught college for 4 years but I do remember the worst. I caught the star quarterback cheating and flunked him, which led to his removal from our program and expulsion from the team. His Daddy and his coaches went straight to the top in attempts to overrule us. The saddest thing...it was plainly obvious that it wasn't their first attempt to manipulate the university. It was, however, their last.

Wouldn't it be interesting to get Marian Knox, the secretary for Col. Killian, and Janet Linke, whose husband replaced Lt. Bush in the Guard, together to let the two women talk about what they remember regarding Lt. Bush? Mrs. Knox says the info contained in the CBS memos is accurate, even though memos may be fake. Mrs. Linke of Jacksonville Florida (see Folio Weekly article by Susan Eastman) says she met Col. Killian along with her late husband at a party at which time she learned that the reason for Bush being grounded was he became afraid of flying. I would just love to hear these two ladies talk about their contacts with Col. Killian. And I'd like to ask Mrs. Knox if she can remember what Air Force regulation forms would have been filled out after Bush missed his mandatory annual flight physical. You know, the forms that are missing from his personnel file.
