Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
LOOK AT THESE FACTS

The President ignored the advice of the Army CoS as to the number of troops required in Iraq. The CoS was correct and Bush was wrong!

The Secretary of the Treasury, Paul O'Neill stated that Bush did not even read the memo's sent to him by his most senior staff.

Secretary of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Chairman told Bush his tax cuts should be tied to an available surplus to pay for them. They told Bush he should NOT RETURN TO ANNUAL DEFICITS and increase the National Debt. Bush said NO!

Bush 41 warned about the risk of going into Iraq - Bush 43 ignored his fathers advice and created the very disaster Bush 41 said would happen.

George W. in the 2000 campaign acknowledged the Army was too small (before the added requirement of the Iraq War) by two Army divisions. During the past 3 3/4 years since he took office he has done NOTHING to fix this problem. He added to the burden and made the problem much worse!

It was George W. who said he would VETO the bill to finance the $ 87 Billion dollars for the Iraq War because it was to be paid for by DELAYING SOME OF THE TAX CUTS.
That was the bill Senator Kerry VOTED FOR. When the Republicans killed that bill, they offered a second bill that would pay for the $87 Billion by increasing the National Debt. What is another $ 87 Billion when you already have over $ 7 Trillion of debt! This is the bill Senator Kerry VOTED AGINST not because he did not support our troops but because George W. and his conservative cohorts insisted of putting the $ 87 Billion on the TAB. This is one of a long list of issues where the Bush attitude of, "My way or the Highway" comes through.

Alot of people including myself feel that going into Iraq was a good thing. We needed to get rid of Hussain because what he did to his people was wrong, he was not compling with the UN agreements, and he was helping terriorests. I think Bush did a good thing and in the long run the middle east will be a better place.

I do not agree and I hope Iraq does not turn into a future problem for the US. I do not believe we should risk the lives of our military except to protect America and our freedom. Although Sadam was a very evil person and killed a lot of his people, he was not a danger to us. There are lot of evil dictators in this world. Millions are in danger today in Africa. We are not the worlds policemen or the enforcement agent for the UN security Council.

Unfortunately common sense only won't do when trying to manipulate world events, a little bit of knowledge also comes in handy.

I really don't understand the mind-set of people who still believe we were righteous, somehow justified, in our invasion of Iraq. I never understood, back when it was first discussed, the people who refused to see that the obvious consequences of this action would be more negative than positive. And I don't understand how they can continue to buy into this fantasy when the reality on the ground is a dead ringer for those who spoke the truth. There is no way out...and that's precisely why some of us felt all along that it was the wrong thing to do.

How many U.S. troops do you believe are required in Iraq?

The exact number we should have had after Saddam was removed is hard to say. The CoS said several hundred thousand (300,000 ). The missions were to stop foreign fighters to come into the contry and conduct terrorism; we needed to protect the oil, water and electric; we needed to stop terrorists groups and the Iraq fighters from having access to the Amo Dumps and we needed to control the populated areas including the hot beds of unrest we bypassed when fighting to remove Saddam We did not do ANY of those things completely or in some cases at all. Bush did not have a military large enough to fight the war properly even if you get past the question of should we have gone into Iraq. Bush did not listen to those on his staff that had the knowledge about what it would take to control Iraq when Saddam was gone.
