Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
and so is the GOP Leadership
Published on April 7, 2005 By COL Gene In Politics

Yesterday, the Washington Post and the New York Times broke two more stories about Tom DeLay’s indiscretions. The stories reviled that DeLay paid his wife and daughter $500,000 from political contributions and his trip to the Bahamas was tied to Russian business interests. This should have been the last nail in the DeLay coffin and he should have been removed from his position of leadership in Congress.

Today the Republican leadership disgraced itself by calling these actions, “ political character assaults”. Paying $500,000 to your wife and daughter from political contributions and going on trips tied to Russian business interests are not "political assaults", they are revelations of conduct that is not proper for a member of Congress. What the GOP leadership did by supporting his unjustified behavior is to demonstrate that their loyalty is to the Republican Party rather than to the Congress of the United States.

I'm sure you were similarly outraged at the more significant "indiscretions" of the Clinton years.

Why is it every time a Republican does something wrong, people say well Clinton did this?

Why is it every time a Republican does something wrong, people say well Clinton did this or Clinton did that, ever hear the term living in the past? Oh by the way since we are cleverly changing the topic, Dick Chaney in 1979 voted against a bill that would pay for funding for aids research simply because he thought it was a homosexual disease...(no lie). How about we play a game where we change the topic every time someone states a republican wrong doing and we go back to Clinton...

"What does this Blog have to do with Clinton? It was about DeLay."

It is hypocrisy and not personality that concerns the critical thinker. Col. Gene, an insightful man such as yourself must know how this simple truth escapes the right?

P.S. It's not even simply Delay it's the whole lot of them. Senators for instance have to raise $10,000, a day in order to have a campaign for re-election that will stand up to their peers'. It makes it a pluralist system which means the largest contributors are their "friends". Forget which side the players are on if it's wrong it's wrong...

I fear simple truth escapes both the right and the left.

Bubba is their whipping boy COL. Everything wrong in the US can be traced back to him according to the righties. And Enigmagnetic just hit the nail on the head! I agree with you 100%.

Get a new blade folks, the old one don't cut so good anymore

hahahahahahaha

This is the Right's new argument -- moral relativism.

"Yes, our guys are crooks, but YOURS ARE TOO SO THAT MAKES IT OK."

Is Tom DeLay paying you off Brad? You defend his crooked, gerrymandering, ethically challenged, Terri Schiavo exploiting ass every chance you get.

Clinton got a blowjob and told a lie about it. The end. Cheating on your wife vs. cheating an entire country...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm which is worse?

Hahahahahahahahaha -- I love it when you so-called moralists have to defend slime balls like DeLay, Karl Rove, Jeff Gannon, Armstrong Williams and the like. It's like me going to bat for Sen. Byrd (which I won't do).

Like I tell the kids, just because he insulted you doesn't mean you can insult him. Just because a Democrat did something bad doesn't give DeLay carte blanche to be a crook.

What Clinton did had the most impact on his family. He also set a poor example to others. What Bush is doing is impacting MILLIONS. The War, Debt, loss of jobs (trade Policy), budget cuts, Social Sceurity, Energy etc. If you want to see which is worse, just open your eyes and count the numbers of Americans harmed under Clinton and then under Bush!

I have always said the difference between dems and repubs is this...

Dems f**k you one at a time
Repubs f**k us all at once!

I do. I just think that wrong should be recognized regardless of where it is on the political spectrum, and come on people let's be honest, we all know lobbyists are pretty much running this country... I guess it comes down to that age old question of pick your poison. Which side are you on blah blah blah? Democrats have their special interest groups, and Republicans have theirs. Maybe General Washington was right...

I think we should make the terms of Presidents, senators and congressmen six years long with no option for re-election. That might clip the wings of lobbyists and special interests.

Not a bad idea COL. Not bad at all!

How about, every policy decision is made by a fight to the death. We could broadcast it on t.v. (ofcourse if the the almighty F.C.C. will let us have it) we charge for it and all the proceeds go towards the fight on hmphh terrorism...
