Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

President Bush came away from his China talks with NOTHING. He met stiff resistance from his call for human rights and religious freedom. There was no movement in reducing the massive trade imbalance with China. There was no progress in overhalling the currency system that makes the products that China sells cheep and our products expensive which adds to the trade imbalance. Bush made no progress in getting China to respect property rights such as patents or copyrights. The Bush trip to China was a total failure. It is time for Bush to STOP spending the American Tax Payers money on foreign travel!

President Bush came away from his China talks with NOTHING. ...The Bush trip to China was a total failure.

From this morning's Washington Post:
When President Bush was flying toward Asia a week ago, his national security adviser, Stephen J. Hadley, predicted to reporters in the back of the plane that the four-nation trip would yield no "headline breakthroughs."

So, COL Gene, even the Bush administration knew this would be an uneventful trip. It's called "DIPLOMACY", and it's better known as "visiting your neighbors once in a while" and maybe bringing them some cookies.

It is time for Bush to STOP spending the American Tax Payers money on foreign travel!

And if he didn't go anywhere, people would complain that he ignored the rest of the world.

Bush DOES ignore the people of the U.S and the World. He does just as he wants. There were demonstrations aginst him on his 8 day trip and he got nothing to help the trade problems we are faced with. Bush is ineffective and this trip is just another example of the fact he is not solving anything. The millions it cost to take them cookies should be put into helping 400,000 people in America that have lost everything this summer. He could send cookies via overnight package for millions less!

I continue in my quotation from the Post:

White House officials said that did not mean the trip was unsuccessful, because they never expected to bring home any major agreements in the first place. Such trips, they said, reflect a more mature diplomacy aimed at building relationships and achieving steady progress that will produce gains at some later date.

I am not saying it was a big deal trip. But neither was the White House. China is both our ally and our enemy. Tricky relationship, but that's diplomacy, baby! Unless you're reaching out to our neighbors, you're not reaching out at all.

Let me understand. If you know you will not achieve your goals, you set the objectives to achieve nothing so the trip is not a failure? Great Pre-Spin.

I say again- Bush stay home and spend that money you save from not traveling to HELP Americans! Like the cuts in food stamps, Medicaid, student loans and to house the people that lost their homes this summer which FEMA plans to put on the street on December 1st.

Col Gene, can you explain to me this. Let's say you have a problem with your mother-in-law. Your wife wants you to fix this problem so that more problems don't form. You know for a fact you mother-in-law is hardheaded and will never listen to anything you say and you are almost 100% sure that this will be a waste of time. What do you do?

Here's the real answer in case you didn't know, you go to you mother-in-law and , even thought it's a lost cause, you try to work it out. You go with a PLAN, OBJECTIVES. You may not walk out with anything, but in reality you actually did. You pleased your wife by going and now she can not say you didn't try. Is that a failure? The way I see it, there were more GOALS, OBJECTIVES and PLANS than she knew so how exactly do you know if it's a failure?

BTW, let me get this straight:

The millions it cost to take them cookies should be put into helping 400,000 people in America that have lost everything this summer. He could send cookies via overnight package for millions less!

Are you saying that everytime someone loses their house because of some natural disaster it is the tax payers responsability to put these people back to their normal lives? and what about the others beyond the 4000,000, don't they diserve help as well? Did you think that by simply going over to China and ask them to give up a little bit of their power that they would just reciece us open-armed and say " no problem, done, would you like anything else?"?

You know, once again, for a military guy you are really out of touch with reality and life. You are one of those who thinks that we should just care about our own people and forget about the rest of the world, you know, the ones who provide many of the wonderfull things we enjoy that are imported?

Gene's lack of perspective and hatred for Bush made this article inevitable. Sorry to bump it without an argument, but would be wasted bandwidth.

Cheers,

Daiwa

I did not write this story. It was from the AP. EVERYTIME anything that does not look good for Bush appears that I report , it is my hatred for Bush. I do not hate Bush just his policies and I am not alone! All your BS does not change the fact that Bush accomplished NOTHING on this trip for which we spent millions of taxpayer dollars. The same thing happened on his last trip.

Wow, I guess the BBC isn't a valid news source anymore. Because, according the them:

"Mr Hu said China was willing to take action to end the illegal copying of goods ..."

and

"...a US aide said China was to buy 70 Boeing aircraft."

The whole article can be found here.

So, I guess that 70 Boeing aircraft, at a few million dollars each, is your definition of coming away with nothing. Good definition. Try again COL.

Our nation has always helped when disasters impact our people. We send aid all over the world and provide Foreign Aid in the Billions every year. We are spending almost $6 Billion EVERY month on a war that does not make America Safer. We great tax cuts so those that do not NEED anything more. We cut help to people that are hungey including children. We cut help to the poor for health care. We cut help to our students ( the future of our country) to help them pay for college with loans. I would like any of you so called Christians to explain how your attitude of NOT helping the poor and what Jesus said about the rich square with your attitude? So much for your moral compass.

Thank heavens you're not in the Department of State. Or, God help us all, the UN.

Well comparing this trip to his south american visit this one was less embarrassing and he stuttered less lol.

This is so stupid col.

Interesting coming from the person who would let Iraq turn into the hands of the terrorists.

nawwwwww.

well okay. i go to my mother-in-law's place. only i don't go in. instead of cookies, i've brought along three chlorine tablets and a half a quart jar of tranny fluid. i open the jar, insert the tablets, close it tightly, roll it between the cement blocks on which mom's trailer sits...and get the hell outta there.

LOL, I won't deny this was not exactly the best situation to pick but it's what hit me ATM. Still I think it's a legit situation, if you can bare the thought of having to visit your mother-in-law just for the sake of making you wife happy.

We are spending almost $6 Billion EVERY month on a war that does not make America Safer.

I don't know, it depends on your definition of safer. I for one feel much better and safer. So you don't feel safer, maybe you should take matters into your own hands and make it safer for yourself. How's about you move to Mexico or Central America. That would be safer for you wouldn't it? The way I see it the terrorist are over there killing their own people, that means they not here and that makes me feel better. Besides, eventually the Iraqi people will get sick of being used as targets for someone elses hatred for someone lese.

And Col Gene, no matter what you say you hate Bush. Ask anyone who agrees or disagrees with you about every article that you have made recently and I bet they will all agree that even if you make a valid point in an article or not (or you replies in other articles for that matter) your hatred for Bush shines right through.
