Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
Published on August 22, 2007 By COL Gene In Politics

The total lack of political progress and the attitude of the Iraqi Government has ended the argument to continue our failed Iraq Policy. The time that the Bush Surge was to provide for the Maliki Government to resolve the political issues was squandered and now al-Maliki is lashing out at the U.S. timetables for securing political progress in Iraq. The fact is that there has been NO progress and ALL the dead and injured Americans during this last surge were a total waste of the lives and treasure of the United States.

Senators Levin and Warner after their visit to Iraq called the progress disappointing. Our Ambassador Crooker termed the lack of political progress “ extremely disappointing” The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs designee, Adm. Michael Muller told Congress in a blunt statement during his confirmation hearings that “no amount of troops in no amount of time will make much of a difference unless the Iraqis get their political act together”

The time is up. Congress must FORCE Bush to begin withdrawing our troops and turn the security of Iraq over to the Iraqi People. The only thing more time will accomplish is more dead and injured American Troops and more added to the National debt from this disastrous war! It is time to admit we made a mistake and end our military occupation of Iraq!

There has been plenty of progress, we showed you this last time you posted this nonsense.  You are a defeatist, plain and simple.

“More American troops have brought more peace to more parts of Iraq. I think that's a fact.”

“The military aspects of President Bush's new strategy in Iraq ... appear to have produced some credible and positive results.”

“We’ve begun to change tactics in Iraq, and in some areas, particularly in Al Anbar Province, it’s working.”

A White House spokesman? General Petraeus? A Fox News talking head or a FrontPageMag.com columnist?

None of the above. All three quotes come courtesy of top Democratic senators. The first is from Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois; the second is from Michigan’s Carl Levin; and the third is from none other than Hillary Clinton.

READ AGAIN "Politican Progress" is the issue. There has been NONE!!!! As to the military progress that is true in the areas where we have added troops. However in other areas that have been quiet for years the violence has taken place and the number of both American and Iraqi deaths has not been reduced! This is the Bottom Line:

Adm. Michael Muller told Congress in a blunt statement during his confirmation hearings that “no amount of troops in no amount of time will make much of a difference unless the Iraqis get their political act together”

“Funny, according to Hillary Clinton the surge is working. Guess she must have forgotten to send you her latest update for your tired bitching.”

What she said is our military efforts were working where we have applied added troops. She did not say there was ANY progress on the essential political issues. That is the point-- We have added American troops, suffered the highest casualties of the war to provide TIME for Maliki and his government to make the political changed that everyone agrees are essential to end the fighting. ALL that Time and ALL the dead and Injured during this surge were sacrificed for nothing since NO PRGRESS has been made on resolving the political issues. NOW we have Maliki lashing out because we expect results on the political issues. The time is up-- NO MORE time paid for the Blood and Treasure!

In addition, the military victories have been offset by new fighting and attack in areas that have been stable for years. The violence is shifting not ending. Overall Iraqi deaths last month were the second highest of the entire war! Our surge policy IS NOT WORKING! TIME IS UP!

HERE is another Idiot on Joe User ignoring what people like Amb. Crooker, Adm. Muller, Senators Levin and Warner said about the total lack of political progress in Iraq.

Today Bush drew a parallel between Iraq and Vietnam. He ignores the fact that we lost in Vietnam and the fact that although there was increased fighting just after we withdrew from Vietnam, that TODAY Vietnam is just fine. Bush by drawing the comparison between Iraq and Vietnam takes the WIND OUT of his argument to remain in Iraq.

Gene, you should have been part of the killing fields after Vietnam... and not the side still breathing.

"Gene, you should have been part of the killing fields after Vietnam... and not the side still breathing.”

I believe many of those "killing fields" were in Cambodia not Vietnam.

Today another 14 Americans were killed when a helicopter crashed during a combat operation north of Baghdad. In a second attack 37 Iraqis were killed and 85 more injured. YES this SURGE is ending the Killing in Iraq!!!!!

This is a political and military failure that is adding to the dead and injured EVERY DAY. IT MUST END!!!!!

The problem is "just leaving" like you and the far left want, is not going to stop anything.  It will embolden our enemy more and create more fighting.

Remember that showing weakness to radical islamists is the worst thing you can do.

But gene's favorite word is failure regardless of the progress that has been made, that even the democrats and the press finally acknowledge.  Like I said, a defeatist is what we have here.

That may happen. However we have spent 4 years training the Iraqi Military and police to control the violence. Our job is done-- It is up to them.
