The plea of Abramoff has caused a lot of GOP members to have changed their shorts today. The more Abramoff cooperates the less time he will spend in Jail. This one could be the 2006 election for the GOP.

A number of Dems, too. It's going to be an equal-opportunity scandal, Gene. Mr. Reid himself included.

I doubt it will be "the thing" that swings control of Congress one way or the other, though, much as you'd wish.

Even the Keating Five scandal took out some Dems and Repubs alike. The only one to escape unscathed was John McCain. Keating Five article.
Dennis DeConcini's career was over.
We'll just see how the dust settles on this one.

If Sen. Harry Reid did take money from the Indian Casino industry, to support their expantion, he had better avoid returning to Nevada for awhile.

There may be some Dems but the majority are either GOP members of Congress, GOP staffers including some at the White House and members of the conservative right. We will see what the body count is when this is all done!

CNN TV reported today that as many as 20 members of Congress could be swept up in this scandle.

DeLay has been an important figure recently in Republican affairs, but I'd hardly call him the "core" of the party, any more than Newt Gingrich is the "core" of the party, or Teddy Kennedy is the "core" of the Democratic party.

Is the party rotten? No more so than any other party, I think.

I mean, ooh, a corrupt lobbyist scandal! It's just like the corrupt lobbyist scandals under Clinton!

Yawn.

Ya, I would rather have corrupt American Indian tribe lobbyist getting influence. Then having corrupt Chinese lobbyist getting influence. At least the American Indians are not receiving nuclear tech, super computers sales and missile tech.

Democrats rob you one at a time and the GOP robs people all at once. Some great choices!
