Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.
He Wants NATO to Send More Troops.
Published on February 16, 2007 By COL Gene In Politics

As the Congress debates the Bush war policy in Iraq Bush himself provides a strong argument to withdraw troops from the areas in Iraq that are engulfed in a Civil War and move them to Afghanistan. The quest for another 25-30,000 troops in Afghanistan from NATO is falling on deaf ears. The European members of NATO like Germany and France refuse to send more troops and will not allow any of their forces into the areas where the fighting is taking place with al Qaeda and the Taliban. The drug crops continue to flourish and are funding the activities of the Taliban and al Qaeda. Areas in southern Afghanistan are being recaptured by the Taliban and the current troop levels can not control the country.

The central government is loosing the support of the population because the promised improvements in everyday life have not taken place. The people and tribal leaders are turning back to the Taliban. Over 300 schools that were opened after the Taliban were removed from power in 2002 have been closed because of the expanding Taliban operations. Ben Laden and his deputy remain at large and operations along the border with Pakistan remain a problem. We have our military tied up in Iraq with no end in sight and if many more troops are not committed to Afghanistan, the situation will continue to get worse.

It is time Bush opens his eyes and turns the fight between the factions in Iraq to the Iraqi military and police. Then we will have the forces needed to deal with a growing problem in the country where 9/11 was planned. If you support our troops we must bring an end to continuing the failed policy of becoming involved in the Iraq Civil War. No one fought our civil war for us and we should not be fighting the civil war for the Iraqi’s.

Then WHY did Bush attack Iraq where there was no al Qaeda activity or training camps before we invaded?

So the three training camps one of which you admit was in the north of Iraq supposedly without the knowledge of your hero Saddam insane, was there before we invaded and was one of the main reasons for the invasion. So either you lied months ago or you are lying now. Which is it?

Today there are some al Qaeda in Iraq because we deposed Saddam and did not have the manpower required to prevent them from coming across the Iraq borders and setting up operations.

Sure lets ignore the training camps and the people in them. Yes, AQ people crossed the border to recover from wounds received in Afghanistan from our forces.

I can not imagine how little you understand about what is taking place in this world!

I can see you are good at ignoring the truth, facts, and logic.

If things are going so well in Afghanistan, WHY is Bush asking for more troops from NATO?

Because spring time is coming and the war is going to start up again from the winter vacation that the war takes every year. You would know that if you bothered to study how the war is being fought.

There are training camps of al Qaeda in Pakistan. Should we invade Pakistan and depose their leader?

The fact remains that Saddam was no danger to the U.S. in 2002-2003 and we invaded a country without just cause!

We had plenty of reasons, most of which democrats agreed with.  According to your standards Afghanistan was not a threat either, and we shouldn't have disposed of the Taliban.

I really don't know why you bother col.  Bush will not be impeached, is it just some obsession you cannot handle?

ABC News

WASHINGTON, Feb. 20, 2007— The Pakistani ambassador to the United States, Mahmud Ali Durrani, today vehemently denied recent reports that a resurgent Al Qaeda is operating terror training camps with renewed vigor in the rugged and lawless mountains of Northern Pakistan, along the border with Afghanistan.

"Overall, what has been projected in the last two to three days is a gross exaggeration that there are camps sitting in Pakistan," Durrani said in a one-on-one interview with ABC News.

"There may be a camp or two, but when we find them, in joint operations with the U.S., we take them out," he added, citing two cases in which Pakistani forces raided camps suspected of being terror training facilities.

Attack occurs in South Waziristan as SecDef Gates visits Afghanistan; a pattern of Pakistani behavior

Early this morning, the Pakistani military struck at an al-Qaeda and Taliban camp in the Zamazola region of South Waziristan. “The attack was launched at 6:55am this morning by army gunship helicopters against the hideouts of militants in Salamat Keley of Zamazola area,” said Major General Shaukat Sultan, the spokesman for the Pakistani military. "The foreign militants were imparting training to the local youth of terrorism and suicide attacks."

There were five buildings within the compound, and three were targeted and destroyed by 5 to 7 attack helicopters. The number of killed in the attack is still unknown. The Pakistani army claimed 25-30 "miscreants" were killed, while local agency officials claim 8-10 were killed, including civilians. Maj Gen Sultan said troops are on the ground pulling bodies from the wreckage. If the past is any indicator, the U.S. hunter killer teams of Task Force 145 were involved in the strikes.

The attack on the training camp occurred within hours of U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates' meeting with Afghan officials and U.S. military leaders. Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has been on the defensive of late after the U.S. and Afghan President Hamid Karzai have said western Pakistan is a Taliban and al-Qaeda safe haven.

Pakistan denies al Qaeda resurgence report
POSTED: 0236 GMT (1036 HKT), February 19, 2007

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistan has denied published reports that indicated al Qaeda is active and getting stronger in its tribal North Waziristan region along the country's border with Afghanistan.

Pakistani Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durani told CNN the reports -- initially from the New York Times -- are "ridiculous."

"We have deployed more than 80,000 troops in that area, and we are controlling that belt," Durani said. "And whenever we get any Taliban or al Qaeda activity report, we always go in with full force and destroy those camps. We ourselves are victims of these terrorist activities and cannot allow them to get stronger."

Durani also said that it is "ridiculous to point fingers without any reason."

"If someone has any information, they should have passed that on to us," he said.

So once "AGAIN" you're "proven" wrong! Feel like the fool that you are yet?
Do you read even 1/8th of the news that's available? Or do you need more reading classes?

Nope, the leader of that country has helped us as best he could and has allowed us to use our troops in his country to hunt them down. For a col in the Army you sure don't keep up on current affairs.

The fact remains that Saddam was no danger to the U.S. in 2002-2003 and we invaded a country without just cause!

The fact remains that he had AQ training camps in his country and according to US policy that was more than enough to invade his country. Just because you fixated on nukes does not mean that the reasons to go to war were invalid.

YOU ARE SO FULL OF BS it comes out of your ears!

Every day the situation shows that this is a growing Civil War and that we are not able to restrain the violence. 8 helicopters lost in 2 months, thousands of dead and the violence is spreading to other cities as we increase the pressure in Baghdad. The British pull out and AWOL George sends in more American Troops into a Civil War. IMPEACH BUSH NOW! Draft Dogger Dick claims that Iraq is a “Great Success”. One thing Cheney does for Bush is to have some one that is even WORSE then Bush!

This article is about Afghanistan not Iraq but you lost that argument so you change topics in order to sound like you might win. And since you don’t do much research allow me to inform you that the British are sending in troops to Afghanistan as well as other countries. So in Iraq it is getting quiet enough to send some troops home from the south of the country and in Afghanistan even the brits are coming to help. Wow are you dumb.

I lost nothing.

Afghanistan is going down hill. You should have looked at CNN today. Not only is al Qaeda regrouping in the south, but the poppy crop is a growing problem as well at al Qaeda training camps in Pakistan, U.S. Intelligence says there is no doubt that al Qaeda is growing in strength and that our invasion in Iraq has helped them recruit and to reorganize. Before our invasion of Iraq, al Qaeda was active in Afghanistan. Now they are operating in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and other countries in Africa. We are surely winning this war against the terrorists that caused 9/11. All we have done is improved our defense of the U.S. while increasing the number and locations from which our enemies can plan future attacks against us. WAY TO GO GEORGE! Add the Civil war George got us into in Baghdad and we are really doing well. We have placed our military into a NO WIN situation! To support our military we need to give them a new Commander-in-Chief. Impeach Bush and Cheney NOW!!!!!!!!
on Feb 25, 2007
You know, Gene, it takes a huge leap of faith (as in off a very tall cliff) to assume that AQ would have just stopped recruiting & returned to the cricket pitch absent the war in Afghanistan & Iraq. This is why your arguments are so lame - no perspective, no big picture, no accounting for what would likely have happened had we stayed out of Afghanistan & Iraq. Nothing but seething hatred for one guy, completely blinding you; like staring into oncoming car lights at night, you see only George.

There was never a risk-free option. I deal with this every day - making decisions based on my assessment of the relative risks of two possible courses of action: doing something or not. Both choices entail risk; there is never a third option that avoids risk. To rail on as you do, as if we'd all be just comfy & cozy now and all the AQ zealots in the world would be devoting themselves to feeding the starving in Africa or something is beyond absurd. Sad, really, though I lost any sympathy for you long ago.

Yes I understand for you it is news that every spring since the British invasion and failed attempt at colonization they start a new offensive because they go into hiding for the winter and come out to fight during the warm months. Everyone seems to know this except you and CNN.
