Yes, Gene, your devotion to the truth is what makes you so predictable.

This has nothing to do with Iraq, and you know it.  I mean seriously gene, you equate everything to Bush and Iraq no matter how ridiculous it is.  Perfect example is this post.

Bridge - Infrastructure maintained by the state.

Steam pipe - Infrastructure maintained by the city.

So, where does the Federal governenment, or the war in Iraq come in?  The Fed isn't meant to fix all problems at all levels.

Federal government funds the states, has for a while now. And, due to the commerce clause, the bridge is on an interstate - Federal government's funds pay for most of that. Steam pipe - cities are funded by states, and states by Federal government. The state didn't have enough money to fund the city enough to fix the steam pipe, because the war in Iraq is too costly.

Money does trickle down, but it's not now nor has it ever been the lion's share of the funding for repair and replacement projects. 

Actually, I think for bridges that it is. I could be wrong, but I thought that the The Federal Bridge Program funding (under FHWA) covered 80% of the cost of bridge upgrades, repairs and replacements. The program, along with other Federal Highway Programs, has seen significant cuts to offset spending for Iraq and Katrina reconstruction. In March of this year, $3.4 Billion was rescinded from FHWA programs, and in June another $871 million -- that's a lot of money that is no longer going to upgrade and repair our transportation infastructure.

This has nothing to do with Iraq, and you know it.

The money we have spent in Iraq would have rebuilt most of the infrastructure in this country. We will have spent almost a TRILLION dollars on Iraq before this is done and we will be less secure then when we started! Some say it is not the Federal Governments responsibility to rebuild the infrastructure. Since when is it the Federal Governments responsibility to invade Iraq? We were not attacked by Iraq nor were they capable of attacking the United States. Even if Saddam had the WMD Bush and Cheney said they had they would not have been any more of a threat then North Korea, Iran, Syria, China or Russia all of whom most likely have the WMD that Bush said Saddam, possessed.

We diverted our military resources from the people who caused 9/11 and today they are back to where they were before 9/11 and now operate both Iraq and Pakistan. HOW has that made us safer? How has the investment of 3,600 lives, 26,000 injuries and a Trillion Dollars been a good investment?

Do you honestly believe that if anyone else had won the election that the Trillion Dollars spent in IRAQ would have made it down to projects like this?

I just don't buy it. This bridge didn't get old over night. I also don't buy that the repairs didn't happen because the money was spent in Iraq. For two and a half years now I have watched road crews tear down and rebuild a bridge crossing the Red River.

Gene, I am ashamed of you. These people that were on that bridge don't need you to turn this in to some sort of Bush hating tirade.

He never hesitates at the chance to bash Bush no matter what is involved.  Now he is just posting the usual cut and paste Iraq responses he does in every other post.
