Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

There was a day when the interests of Big Business were more in line with what was best for America. That day is over. Today the drive for higher and higher profits by large international companies is eliminating American jobs and this country is rapidly becoming indebted to the rest of the world.

Our country is becoming dangerously dependent of foreign producers for our most basic needs. Trade agreements make it difficult for American made goods to be sold to other countries and we are allowing dangerous goods to flood our country. We do not insure that we have FAIR trade just so called Free Trade which means cheep foreign made goods can be sold freely in this country while our goods are taxed by foreign governments or currency rates are set that make our products to expensive for foreign buyers to afford.

Senator Edwards is correct- Our government polices are being directed by Big Business to help their bottom line and is corrupting our politicians! We can not maintain economic strength with everything we need made outside this country. It endangers both our economic and strategic security.

then the government needs to address the two things that they control. which is helping to make prices go up.

these are taxes and minimum wage.

if you raise taxes prices will go up.

if you raise minimum wage prices will go up and people will lose their jobs

More gloom and doom.

1. Blame Bush/GOP/Business
2. Tell how democrats will "save" us
3. When called out, repeat step 1

Edwards talking about corrupt politicians.....hahahahaha!

We need to change our tax laws that allow companies to form these off shore shams to avoid U.S. taxes. We need to have trade policies that deal with currency manipulation and tariffs that are being added to our products. We need to offset subsidies that foreign governments give to foreign companies. We need to provide both incentives to create American manufacturing jobs and penalties for moving American Jobs to other countries

Take a walk around your home and look where the things you own were made. I bet almost NONE were made in America! Entire industries are gone-Electronics, Steel, Toys and Clothing. We need a Marshall Plan to develop alternate energy equipment and new more efficient cars. That will require subsidies to companies that develop and produce this equipment in the U.S. We need to provide subsidies for individuals to be able to afford geothermal and solar conversion equipment for their homes. We need tax credits to companies that invest in clean energy systems for their plants and offices. Some of this can be funded by taking the tax credits given to Big Oil and redirect this money to the production and purchase of clean energy systems. Some of the money should come from closing loop holes in our tax laws to benefit the few!

How's about we create a tax structure without incentives to go offshore, Gene? The whole notion of "business taxes" is a sham in the first place - no business "creates" money, it all comes from consumers of their products. Business taxes were and are a charade to raise taxes on individuals without being honest about it, perpetrated by chicken-shit politicians with the spine of a wet noodle. The whole notion of taxing "excess profits" is socialist idiocy, but then, idiocy is your stock-in-trade.

WHY should business not help pay for the government that enables then to be in business? Just where would the lost tax revenue be made up? We currently spend $400-500 Billion MORE then we tax each year and please do not tell me we can cut that amount from the budget. In addition we need about $200-300 billion more per year to be used to pay down the $9 Trillion in debt we have amassed. In addition we have an ageing infrastructure that will require a massive investment for our society to operate. Where do you think that money will come from?

When you look at the world we live in the function of government just to protect us is going to far more expensive in the future. We need a massive investment to develop a clear alternate energy system thought this country which will be another huge investment but is essential to our survival. We have to deal with the Baby Boomers and the impact of that abnormal number of births that is a direct result of WWII. This is not being negative but facing the REALITIES that face us and that will face our children. The next 50 years will REQUIRE that the United States Deal with ALL of these issues. The tax revenue we currently generate will simply NOT be enough to deal with these issues. We would be in a far better situation if starting in 1981 we would have BALANCED our budget and then we would not have the almost $500 BILLION DOLLARS we MUST pay every year in INTEREST on the National Debt! You and others on this Blog site need to look at the data from the Comptroller General. The current tax policy IGNORES the reality of our needs and those needs will not go away!

WHY should business not help pay for the government that enables then to be in business?

BECAUSE, numbnutz:

1) THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT ENABLE ANYTHING. WE, THE PEOPLE, enable the government here. Without business, there would be no government. The Founders would have run you out of town & sent you back to England to help George fudge up some more taxes for other British Colonies.

2) Businesses simply collect the tax from their consumers - they don't PAY for anything. If you want higher prices for all those poor people you squeal about all day everyday, then raise business taxes all you want.

If you look at the discretionary part of the budget, the VAST majority of what we spend is for things like:

Uniformed military

Coast Guard

FBI and Intelligence

Border Security and other Home land security functions.

We have the Dept of Transportation.

Dept of Commerce

Treasury

EVERY one of the above will require more money because they are mostly Wage Driven and because we are in more danger.

Your refusal to acknowledge the kinds of things the Comptroller General has documented will not make them go away. They are REAL and will require a major increase in the tax revenue to deal with them in the NEAR future. We also are paying almost $500 Billion Dollars EVERY YEAR in Interest because of the $9 Trillion Dollars of Debt. That too will not go away UNTIL we REPAY that debt!

Without business, asswipe, there would be no government. Business was in business long before there was government. You have become confused about what serves who, Gene - the government serves us, it does not enable us to do anything. At our request, it regulates certain things, but it enables nothing. Only a socialist views government as you do, therefore you are a socialist, pure & simple, no matter what you say. I'll let others decide who the idiot is.

OUR founding Fathers provided for things like the military, commerce, the treasury and the ability to levy taxes. I guess they were also socialists! YOU ARE A FOOL!
