Evaluation of the policies of George W. Bush and his Republican conservatives on America.

The help President Bush signed into law this week will help some 200,000 people with mortgages that are in trouble. Some argue that Tax Payers should not bail out the bad choices of individual home owners or the mortgage industry. If the consequences of these failures only impacted those who made the bad choices that rational would make sense.

The problem is that the magnitude of the mortgage failures could trigger a major recession and credit crises. That is why the fed and Bush have decided to act. Former Fed Chairman Greenspan believes the mortgage problem is a VERY serious issue and has supported actual direct funding from the federal Government to individuals to help them refinance their mortgages to avoid default.

To date about 3 million mortgages have defaulted and there are as many as another 2 million that are believed to be in danger of defaulting. The plan Bush provided only deals with 200,000 of the 5,000,000 mortgages that are part of this problem. That means Bush has provided help for about FOUR PER CENT of the problem! Does he believe that the possible recession and credit problem can be avoided by dealing with only 4% of the problem?

The action Bush and his administration took to solve major issues facing our country do not come close to fixing the problem at hand. It is just like the Bush plan to give tax credits so people without health insurance can afford to purchase private insurance. The estimate is that the Bush health plan would solve the issue for 3 of the 47 million who need health insurance. That is just over 6% of the health insurance problem. Why does take action Bush takes does not deal with the issue at hand? So Bush and his SPIN DOCTORS can make it look like he CARES!

Any person with an income at that level would have medical insurance and your excuse is just that-- AN EXCUSE!

My wife has had expenses with cancer in excess of a million dollars and it was all covered by insurance. It depends on the type of coverage. A person with a position paying hundreds of thousands or millions most likely has the best coverage from their employer or can afford to purchase such coverage.

First I did not get the big tax cuts and second my income is not even close to the top 10%!

So? You believe these programs are necessary.  Put your money where your mouth is.

ONLY A FOOL would argue that people making hundreds of thousands or millions per year do not have far more then the NEED! If you want to make such a statement, be my guest!

Pure Marxism.  From each according to their ability to each according to their need.

The motto of the parasite.

Let’s put back the tax cuts to the wealthy that were not justified since we did not have a SURPLUS to return as Bush said!

LOL. Yea, the guy who wants the guvment to solve all problems is just an economic genius...

You want the rich to pay for your stuff because "they can afford it" and for you to pay nothing extra because you "need".

Gene, you're greedy. It's as simple as that. You demand other people pay for things you want. That's greed.

When the top 5% of earners already pay 50% of all taxes, they are not being greedy. And you can't say Cheney's tax return or any "loophole" BS proves me wrong. I can't help it that you can't see the forest for the trees.

Merry Christmas.

It is not what % they pay of the total taxes. When people with incomes like Cheney pay only 23% income tax and 3/10 of 1% in Social Security Taxes and 1.5% in Medicare taxes he and anyone like him is NOT OVER TAXED and should not have received the Bush Tax Cuts! There was NO justification for the Bush tax Cuts because THERE WAS NO SURPLUS to give back to the wealthy as Bush claimed!

Typing in bold and caps doesn't make your point better. It just makes you look like a lunatic.

Anedotal examples of people who you feel don't pay enough in taxes doesn't change the facts on the ground: The top 10% of tax payers pay the vast majority of taxes.  That's a known fact.

The percentage doesn't matter - for every dollar you tax from the wealthy, a dollar is now no longer paid to the middle/lower classes.

Personally I don't want my boss's taxes raised because that will either cut out my pay raise or eliminate my job completely. Screw you Gene, I like my job.

And the mortgage bailout is in fact welfare. Even Greenspan says that there's only a 50% chance the mortgage debacle will cause any sort of recession. For the dimwitted, that means maybe it will and maybe it won't. Translation, he doesn't know either.

The mortgage companies themselves could deal with the situation out of self-preservation. They don't want all of those homes because they know they couldn't possibly sell them and recoup their expenses. The airwaves have been flooded with ads from mortgage companies offering fixed rate refinancing for these people at little to no refi costs.

That's called free enterprise. Of course that always rubs you pinko commies the wrong way, doesn't it? Better to play Robin Hood and steal money from other people (never yourself) to give to those poor unfortunate idiots.

The world wouldn't be the same without Mason's trucker blog! We must not raise taxes on the rich!
