Many economists have doubts that the stimulus plans being talked about will do much to deter a recession. The reason for this doubt is the fact that number one even $150 Billion is a drop in the bucket in a $13 Trillion dollar economy. Second how much of the $150 Billion will actually end up as new spending? I do not know if the size of the proposed plans will be sufficient but I do know the Bush suggestions will not maximize the amount that will end up as new spending. First, Bush h...

Comments about the economy I have made in my Blogs have been criticized now have been proven correct. The issue is the economy and the results of the policies we have been following. The reality is the policies of Bush and the GOP have disproportionately caused the economic benefits flow to business and the wealthy and NOT the average Americans who are falling behind. This has caused people to put more on their debt both credit card and home equity loans and now they are faced with the...

For months I have been documenting how the U.S. Economy was in trouble. Bush supporters have been telling me that I did not know what I was talking about. The economy was sound as Bush has been saying up to two weeks ago. I looked back at my Blogs since January 1, 2007 where I pointed out the problems with the U.S. Economy on the following dates: Feb 2; Aug 9; Aug 16; Aug 19; Aug 29; Oct 16; Dec 21. The response from most on this Blog site was to tell me I did not know what I ...

The comments of President Bush in Israel show he does not have a grasp of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. He said it is up to the Palestinians if they want a new state or the status Quo. The truth is it depends on BOTH Israel and the Palestinians to have ANY chance of a settlement. The issues that have prevented a settlement will require MAJOR changes by BOTH sides. When Bush says it depends on the Palestinians he shows a lack of real understanding of the reasons why no settlemen...

I guess the assessment of Professor Toshi Tsurumi, who was the economics teacher GWB had at Harvard, was correct when he said George Bush was one of his worst students. Professor Tsurumi said a teacher remembers the best and worst students over the years. George Bush was fortunate in that when he took office we had a balanced budget for the first time in over two decades. We had tax rates that produced just enough revenue to meet our spending levels. Bush and his GOP supporters in Cong...

There was a day when the interests of Big Business were more in line with what was best for America. That day is over. Today the drive for higher and higher profits by large international companies is eliminating American jobs and this country is rapidly becoming indebted to the rest of the world. Our country is becoming dangerously dependent of foreign producers for our most basic needs. Trade agreements make it difficult for American made goods to be sold to other countries and we ar...

For the second time Bush vetoed the bill that would provide millions of children health care. The compromise bill changed the two major objections Bush had to the first bill he vetoed. It lowered the income levels and eliminated illegals from coverage. For anyone to say Bush is a Compassionate Conservative is a LIE! Bush is an evil man who acts in a way that shows he is a hypocrite when he claims to be a Christian! What a disgrace to our great country to have a leader the likes of Ge...

The Democratic debate was very different from the GOP debate yesterday. For one thing the Democrats provided far more responsive answers to the questions then the Republicans. Second the thrust of almost every issue for the Democrats was focused on average Americans rather then on Big Business and the wealthy. On the issue of education the thrust was to improve PUBLIC education and make the quality of that in the cities and rural areas equal to the affluent suburban areas. It was not...

The Secretary of HEW admitted yesterday that the budget for the FDA is not close to what is needed to protect the countries food and drug supply. This is an astounding admission from a member of the Bush Cabinet. We have had 7 Bush Budgets and for six of those years the GOP controlled Congress. During that period imports have doubled and the funding for the FDA has dropped. This clearly shows how misguided the priorities are from the Bush Administration. We have wasted more in Iraq th...

Bush has been telling the world we must stop Iran from going nuclear and our intelligence agencies say they ended their nuclear program in 2003. Last month Bush was warning about the grave danger from Iran and talking about WW III. The conclusions of our intelligence agencies and the Bush rhetoric are not in agreement. What does Bush say about the latest Intelligence that has been made public? He says it shows we are in danger from Iran. There is something very wrong with Bush. ...

The comments of Senator Chuck Hagel about the Bush Administration are the most significant to date. Last week it was Scott McClellan but Senator Hagel’s stature in American Politics is far greater. He is considered one of the most competent members of the Senate by both Republicans and Democrats. I can’t wait to see how the Bush Spin Doctors try and deal with what is a damming assessment of the tenure of George W. Bush as President of the United States? Time will produce a very long ...

Last night several candidates talked about the so called “Fair Tax”. That is a proposal to replace Federal Income, Medicare and Social Security taxes with a sales tax up to 30%. It was touted as FAIR which is a lie pure and simple. This is another Conservative plan to further lower the taxes on the wealthy. Let’s take a look at just what a 30% sales tax would do. The wealthy taxpayers only spend a portion of their income. Any income that they did not spend would escape this tax. A...

I hope the conference today will begin a process that will lead to a settlement of the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict. However one can not fail to look back at the past 7 years of inaction by Bush. Bush is trying to salvage something that he hopes future generations will look upon as a positive accomplishment of his 8 years in office. To date the only issue that is a positive accomplishment is the agreement with North Korea to end their nuclear program. This will be the last chance...

The assertions of Scott McClellan and the earlier revelations that Armitage, Rove and Libby told reporters that Valery Plame was a CIA agent demand that all the facts concerning this unfortunate situation be investigated by the Special Prosecutor and a determination made what, if any, laws were broken so that any individuals involved can be prosecuted under the laws of our country. With what is known, no one could argue that there is not enough evidence to move forward and uncover ALL the...

Scott McClellan, Former Presidential Press Secretary revealed today that Bush, Cheney, Rove, Libby and Card were part of the Cover up of the leak to the press that Valerie Plame was a covert CIA Agent. McClellan said that Bush lied when he directed him to tell the press that none of the White House staff were involved in the cover up. It was all lies McClellan said. This may be the Smoking Gun that Bush and Cheney can not cover up!
