Posted on Mon, Jun. 05, 2006 The Editorial in the Philadelphia Inquirer today debunks the Bush claim that the BIG BAD Estate( Death Tax as the GOP calls it) should be eliminated. Here is the truth about this tax according to the Inquirer: The Tax is paid by 5 out of every 1,000 estates. That is ½ of 1% of the estates pay this HORRIBLE tax. We hear about all the family farms and businesses that have to pay this tax. In 2000 that was 123 Family Farms and 135 family-owned bus...
Below is the Editorial today from the Philadelphia Inquirer titled, Tax Cuts and the Deficits which is 100 % in sink with the analysis I have included in my new book. In a nut shell, the Presidents former economic advisor, N. Gregory Mankiw admits that the NEW revenue generated from the Bush tax cuts have only provided 1/2 the revenue lost from the tax cuts and the other half have become part of the deficits. For those that claim the deficit is because of the added spending on hurricanes,...
Yesterday one of the Bush Base was convicted in two trials- One before a judge for personal fraud by making false statements to his bank and the jury trial in the ENRON case. Between the two convictions the former Bush supporter could spend 30 years for the first conviction and 176 years for the ENRON conviction in prison. Here is an example of the type of person that Bush calls the elites- the Haves and the Have Mores - ”His Base. I wonder if Mr. Lay or his side kick Jeffery Skil...
Today the AP reported that Nauri al-Maliki, the Iraq Foreign Minister, said he believed it would require another 18 Months before his government would be capable of securing Iraq. That would mean we would be in Iraq over 5 years which is LONGER then we were engaged in WWII. It is time for Congress to put an end to this farce. If the current Congress will not stand up to Bush then we need to insure the Democrats sweep BOTY houses of Congress in November and end this war!
Six months after their last election a new government was put in place in Iraq less two KEY positions -Defense and Interior Ministers that do not have permenant appointments. Ten members walked out at the start of the session. The violence continues all over Iraq: 27 Killed in dozens of attacks 21 bodies found from death squads People stoned a British vehicle that was bombed. Bush tells us that the new government was needed to STOP this violence. Let's watch and see if the sec...
Within the past 24 Hours the following events have been reported: 43 Iraqis were found shot execution style. Iraq people cheer when a British helicopter is shot down in Basra and stone the British troops attempting to reach the crash site. Four more explosions were reported killing 17 and injuring 44 more. We are headed for another record level of deaths in May The atrocities we saw under Saddam are continuing the only difference is which side is inflicting the killing. Th...
The Social Security Commission issued their annual report. It can be found at www.socialsecurity.gov Yesterday I heard Rush tell his audience that the reason that we have not found a solution was because people and Congress would not listen to the solution Bush made for the system. The real reason is that what Bush suggested was not accepted is that it was NOT A SOLUTION. The change he proposed had NOTHING to do with the issue at hand - HOW TO PAY THE FULL SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS TO...
A 1000 man unit of new Iraqi Army that we are training to allow us to bring our troops home refused to go to their FIRST assignment. They tour off their uniforms and said, HELL NO WE WON'T GO. If we have any more success in Iraq we will be there for a 100 years. Like Powell said Break It and it is yours. Bush broke it and now we are stuck with it! As to the source of this story-- Hardball tonight.
The Social Security and Medicare trustees released their reports today. They show the following for 2005: Social Security took in $172 Billion MORE then it paid out. Medicare took in $21 Billion MORE then it paid out. That means the two funds had a combined surplus in 2005 of $193 Billion. George Bush subtracts this amount from the Annual Federal deficit to make it look smaller. Bush reported the deficit as $427 Billion AFTER he subtracted the $193 Billion in surplus from So...
The stream of high level people that were in the government during the planning and invasion of Iraq are coming forward. Over the weekend Gen Colin Powell clearly verifies what many other have said about the planning of this war -IT WAS A MISTAKE. The list includes: Gen Powell Gen Shinsecki Gen Zinni Gen Trainor Gen Franks Ambassador Bremer Gen McCaffery Gen Clark And many others. If you read the books by Generals Zinni and Trainor you can even see how Gen Franks dis...
To illustrate the failure of the current policies lets look at two alternate ways to use $150 Billion tax dollars each year. Bush wants the tax cuts for his wealthy supporters made permanent. The reduction in the tax rates on the TWO TOP income brackets and the reduced dividend taxes rate cost the treasury about $150 Billion EVERY Year in tax revenue compared with restoring the rates on just the wealthiest tax payers to pre 2000 rates. The Bush plan will have the money go to peop...
Now Bush wants to consider requiring higher mileage for Cars, SUV’s and Trucks. Five years ago when the experts told Bush that increasing gas mileage was the MOST effective mid term help he refused to consider that option. All Bush wanted to do is hand the Big Oil companies more money and drill in Alaska. The profits oil companies are making provide ALL the added capital needed to increase exploration and to build new refining facilities. Has this been taking place with these huge pr...
When I was in the Army in Germany awaiting my Top Secret clearance so that I could assume my responsibilities as a nuclear weapons officer, I was given an Admin assignment as the battalion Adjutant. I shared an office with the Sergeant Major who had very little regard for second lieutenants. One of the things I did observe about our SGM was that he did like to make his point in a unique way. One day he said that he did not think my Arms Room was secure. That was on of the responsibilit...
Yes another negative story about King George. The answer as to why so many negative Blogs is that hardly a day passes that does not either reveal another Bush error or show a new mistake that our President has made. The China visit is a combination of both. It was Bush who expanded the failed trade policy of Clinton to include China. Now we have another $200 Billion trade problem to deal with in this country. The issues with China are major and run deep. The most apparent is that ...
If you listen to Bush rant and rave today about He is the only voice that counts. He is the Boss. He hears the critics but that does not count it sounds more and more like what Bush was quoted as saying after the 2000 election in The Price of Loyalty. That quote was, "we must heal whatever wounds may exist" Bush went on to say, "At times there would be disagreement and that is OK. If this were a dictatorship it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I am the dictator" A-M...
