One of the Bush objectives for the second term is to reduce the annual deficit by 50%. That would mean by 2008, the United States would still be running an annual budget deficit of over $200 billion every year. There are many who believe other objectives set out by President Bush such as making the tax cuts permanent, changing Social Security with even more debt and paying for his prescription drug plan will make even cutting the deficit in half impossible. Even if he somehow can manage...

Yet another report sheds light on the fact that the United States is not doing all that it needs to do to prepare our country against attack. The latest revelation is a review of the ability of our states to deal with a bioterrorism attack. That report shows that only a handful of states are believed to be able to adequately deal with such an attack. About two weeks ago the outgoing secretary of Health and Human Services indicated that we are not doing enough to protect our food supply f...

The Bush administration just can't seem to get it right. Several days ago, the Secretary of Defense told the troops that the reason they couldn't provide more armored vehicles was that they couldn't produce them. This appears to be incorrect. The company that the Army contracted with could increase production and other companies could've produced additional vehicles. In almost 20 months the DoD has been unable to meet the needs of our men and women in Iraq. Department of Defense is als...

The complaints from our military to the Defense Secretary today are the latest in an unhealthy trend with our military force. Secretary Rumsfeld listened to the complaints from our soldiers in what appeared to be a big surprise for him today. This follows the refusal of a reserve unit to obay orders because they lacked the proper equipment. If also follows the statement of a National Guard General that his troops did not have the proper equipmemt. Complaints about inadequate equipment, t...

let me first apologize for the length of this blog. The issues facing America, as we began President Bush's second term, are many and complex. Below are the changes I believe we should consider: Addendum to," Four More For George W?" by Gene P. Abel Spending Review discretionary non defense expenditures including “pork barrel” spending to cut our budget. Change legislative procedures to end tacking non related expenditures to bills and require all appropriations to go throug...

The reception President Bush received today in Canada is a true embarrassment to the United States of America. We have a president who was despised by our closest neighbor and by the people of most of the European nations. I cannot remember a time when the world had so little regard for our nation. The story is the same no matter were you turn with very few exceptions -- the United States is not trusted and our president is looked upon as an arrogant go it alone leader. It is hard to se...

The morning after seems to indicate George W. Bush has been re-elected President. Although it may be possible for Senator Kerry to win the popular vote in Ohio and win the Electoral College, it is an uphill battle. It is essential however, to complete the count in Ohio and settle the issue before George W. declares victory! If, after the votes are counted in Ohio and if that confirms that George W. has won, he needs to begin working on bringing America together. This is something, even ...

If George W. wins, the bitter feeling will continue, first because Kerry lost and because Bush will most likely continue his policies that only meet the needs of the conservatives. I do not believe Bush has it in him to understand that his views only represent a fraction of the American Public. He has shown during the past four years that he has not acted as "President of All Americans" . If Kerry wins, the conservatives will be unhappy. When Kerry tries to get his ideas approved by Congr...

Senator John Kerry must have been a very good boy. Santa just keeps the gifts comming. The statement that a group in Iraq has the missing weapons and that they have been using them in Iraq, the 20,000 increased jobless claims, the third month that Connsumer Confidence and fourth month the Leader Economic Indicators have been down documenent how the Bush policies are NOT working! In addition, a survey of some of our allies showes that 8 out of 10 do not like Bush. What else could Santa ...

The failure to provide security in Iraq has added to American Casualties and injuries. Bush has not provided the troop levels required to secure the borders and prevent outside terrorists from comming into Iraq. He has not secured the explosives from getting into terrorists hands which are being used to kill and injure American military members or to control the populated areas where terrorists are operating from and planning attacks on our soldiers. The latest revelation that 380 Tons of exp...

Fahrenheit 9/11 is over the top in some areas however, much of the material is factual and Bush 41 or others storming that Michael Moore is "this or that" does not change these facts. Bush 41 did use his influence and his friends to get George W. into the National Guard and out of the Guard early with an Honorable Discharge that George W. did not earn! The Bush 41 connections got people to invest in the businesses of George W. that failed. It is also true that many of these investors are ...

I will try and not disappoint some of those who disagree with me i.e. drmiler Spin is KING - Both sides use it and I will give a few used by Bush and allow drmiler et al to give you some from Kerry Bush tells us Kerry will increase your taxes (on the middle income Americans- he has stated he wants to increase the tax rates on the wealthiest 2 %) if he is elected. Since when does the president pass laws? Unless BOTH houses of Congress change the tax rates, they will not change but follo...

When the voter during the second debate asked President Bush to name three mistakes he made as president, George W. displayed one of his greatest short commings - his inability to recognize flaws in himself, even when they are obvious. In the 2000 presidential campaign, George W. pledged to restore more civility to American politics. Surely one of the mistakes that President Bush should have acknowledged to the voters question was that he had failed to achieve this pledge. In fact, he has ...

I wonder if there could have been a mix up at the hospitol when George W. was born. If someone looks at a comparisson of George H. W. and George W. they would find almost no similarity between the two, except for the name. Bush 41 was a real American patriot during World War II and Bush 43 got out of defending his country by using his father's help to get in the Texas Air National Guard. Bush 41 risked his life and did his duty to help defend his country and Bush 43 shirked his duty while i...

As we move closer to Novemner 2, the polls continue to show a 50/50 split in America. If one were able to step back and look at the facts without the spin both sides use, it would seem to me Kerry should be far ahead. Polls show that 60% want major changes in our policies and 89 % want some changes. Part of the 50% that are supporting Bush must be part of the 60% and 89% that want change. These Bush supporters must know he will not change in a second term and by voting for him they will ge...
